My daughter and son are back in college. I encourage them and help them when needed. What is sad they are light years ahead of me when I was in my early 20s. (Thanks to borg training)

by purplesofa ini hope that some of you lurkers out here really take a look at some of the thread in this section of the board.
this awake magazine says not one thing about how families are asked to trust their elders and how these very elders were and are abusing their children.
it mentions nothing about watching out for these trusted men in the congregations.............oh it brings out the internet, other family members and fathers and males in particular.. it will tell you how much your child needs to do to prevent something like this from happening.

Its been years since I seen those magazines. I just what to throw up when I see those pictures!! I totally forgot about the simplicity and brain dead there rhetorical questions are. Why to they have to write like that! Can't they give out good advice, like advice from counselors who work with children around the world?

When Meetings Went Overtime, What Did You Do?
by minimus ini used to start looking at the clock behind me, look at my watch, look at the speaker or person handling the part and give obvious facial expressions expressing my dissatisfaction.
it was a pet peeve of mine!
a few times when i had the last part in a service meeting, i'd say, rather sternly,"this originally was a 15 minute part but because we are running out of time, we will dispense with (whatever).".

I remember when the circuit overseer would always run over on Sunday around 12:15 he was still talking. Just then a metal handicap young man would yell "when we going to lunch?"

There is a web site called corneredcat.com. She has some very good info on how a christian handle this. I really learned a lot from her. What she says make a lot of sense.

Grandparents and money schemes/scams

do any of you have experience with your parents or grandparents getting hooked on money making scams, publisher's clearing house, or other "schemes" where people call and use high pressure sales tactics and manipulation to get you to buy there program?.
i know this is not jw stuff, but to me, it pushes alot of the same buttons.

I learn something new every Day. I still visit a few of my true non conditional friends. They don't even go anymore to the KH meetings. But they still have a high regard and will defend the "lie". So one day the conversation was about self defense. I told both my Friends I legally carry a fire arm for my protection. I said you need to also your not in any shape to stop and attacker anymore cause of your health. He said right away Christians can't carry guns and so on. (I know the story when I was a JW from the 50s) So I just let it go. Then I came across a Bible scripture of Luke 22:36. I read it in a real Bible not the fake green bible and it seems to support buying a sword for self defence. The problem is when I was a good JW I never heard of this passage. JWs just read the same old scripture just to support there own beliefs. I do not have my old NWT bible any more I shot it full of holes with the rest of my books. (that an other story I told) so what does the green bible say on that matter and how does the watchtower spin that scripture? Thanks

by OUTLAW inwe see alot of topics on the board about the end of the wbt$..i don`t think that will happen in our lifetime........so..lets change our focus..kingdom halls are getting fewer and fewer jw`s in them..congregations are being dissolved and kingdom halls are sold off..many jw`s are very unhappy and we see alot of them on this board.....the wbt$ is a billion dollar organization,they will survive for along time to come..........how about the jehovah`s witness`s?.......with fewer and fewer members..information about the wbt$ on the internet..and..some very depressed jehovah`s witness`s looking for a way out of the cult they are in.....will the "jehovah`s witness`s" survive?...outlaw

Not any more. After I found out the questions were changed. After I found out that the society was covering up petafiles. The way I was treated. It just is a big heartless Corporation in New York. It is even worse. I have quit working for some corporations and you just give them your 2 week notice and go on with your life. But this corporation hounds you and gives you a guilt trip. It has ruined thousands of lives. Sorry just venting. GH

Interesting tidbit from a bethalite
by Princess Daisy Boo inso my "bethalite" sister calls me last night for a chat (now i must digress slightly and say that conversations with my sister are few and far between - we have very little to say to each other and any calls to each other are merely out of duty) .
after all the small talk, she tells me that she was doing stocktake in the tuckshop for a change instead of the usual housekeeping job that she is meant to do.
i ask her why and she tells me that all the dept's within bethal who keep a supply of products have to do a stocktake in preparation for the big courtcase on friday.
