What were city overseers?
by jws ini'm told that my dad was once a "city overseer".. i don't know what sort of time frame we're talking about.
i know he started in the early 50's and i know by the late 70's/early 80's (by the time i was old enough to know and care about the structure and titles) that he was only an elder by then.. does anybody know what a "city overseer" was?
kind of like a circuit overseer?.

Witnessing =Dirty Householders/bible studies yuck remember??
by Witness 007 inwe had a bible study women who collected all the qaurter left bottles of coke and would "recycle" them into one bottle.
a couple we studied with would give us coffee with lipstick on the cup after removing the cigrette buts and a quick rinse!
a study gave me a glass of water which was brownish looking....tasted awful.

Wow I remember having a study after the Sunday meeting. I was with a pioneer and he have a quick lunch and then go to a study with this guy in an apt. that stinks of tobaccoso bad I d had to strip my clothing off and take a shower. Take my under ware and wash them.
It seems every "study" was like this. No one I repeat no one had a study with a normal person in a normal house.

announcement at service meeting last night
by isaacaustin inlast nite at my parents service meeting an announcement was made regarding the new triple meeting.
they said that no one can go over their allotted time at all during the tms.
if the bell rings you are to stop immediately- not even finishing your sentence.

The last time I was at the Sunday meeting my daughter and I were late. She really did not like anyone at the KH so Brother attendant walked us down the isle in front of the podium. I felt the warm brotherly stares on my back. I whispered to my daughter are you hungry? Here is the keys to the truck I will meet you in a few minutes. That was 14 years ago. never been in a KH since!

Did you SAVE money by using a hotel on the recommended lodging list?
by truthseeker ini haven't seen this question posted here before, but did any of you who stayed at one of the hotels on the society's recommended lodging list save money than if you attended a hotel not on the list?.
having seen a few of these lists, it seems the rates given are expensive..

Wow the fun times. I remember Watchtower charged us a dorm room at a college compass. The rooms were filthy. The students moved out and the rooms never cleaned. They took our money because we had to stay for the spiritual food! No refund........

A woman can run for 2nd in command of the free world but can't do the mikes

yeah, a woman can run for the second highest position the world has to offer (i guess) but can't even give a talk that a 10-year old snotty-nosed kid can do at the f-n kh.
this used to annoy me no end at the hall... there were these morons doing the bible reading or what have you and they couldn't even pronounce the words.

In my experience women are smarter than men.
I love to see a women as a elder at the Kingdom Hall, especially on a back room elders meeting.
