BTS,
I recommend that you Not be more than Mom. That may be hard to do, but probably essential in this situation.

ok, all you "bleedin' hearts" get ready to flame me..... i have been watching the developments in the devastated areas like everyone else, and something has begun to strike me.
there seems to be tens of thousands of people who are just sitting around waiting for help to miraculously drop out of the sky, and the longer they sit idle, the madder they get that the government hasn't swooped in and immediately solved all their problems.
i have a few questions about this mindset:.
3rd Eye,
No one has responded to your post. I hope many of those posters above have continued to read this thread. You are so right about the levees. The majority of the problem in N.O. is not the hurricane, but the aftermath, i.e., the failure of the levees. In 2003, they were being worked on and were totally in serious need of being rebuilt. However, in 2004. the Dept. of Homeland Security had to siphon off the money to continue that work to building the infrasturcture in Iraq--including at least one levee. Sick.
This thread has saddened me. Blame the Victim in this thread is disheartening.

Stop that! Right now! Hard times do not make you shitty.
You are a beautiful soul.

OMG! What a story. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
I was so taken with your story that I read every word. You are a real testament to the resiliency of the human spirit. Plus, you have a very real gift for writing.
I am not sure that I have seen all of your posts, but I am hungry to hear more about you and I really would like to hear more of the story. How you have survived such a life is absolutely phenomenal. Please finish the story!

I have had a Mitsubishi Plasma for two years. I love it.
we have just gotten home from sunday-meeting, when my mom ask me if i believe in god and so on.
so i tell her, cause you adviced me to be honest.
and despite all my fears, she took it very calm, and then told my dad whos also taking it calm, and it doesnt seem like theyre hating me now or want to throw me out of the house.. the thing is.
Fillip,
You might consider telling your parents that right now you need a break. That you will be willing to "study" after that break. Give a specific time frame, such as after you don't have so much school work or after mid-terms or in 3 months. Pick a time. That would give you the opportunity not to feel so pressured right now when you are feeling vulnerable after your talk with them.
Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

has anyone else besides megadude seen this flic?
it is mostly about quantum physics and is truly awesome.
it hasn't been advertised at all and is mostly playing the art houses.
Leolaia:
I am confused as to why you selected only one of the interviewees in the film to comment on and that was Joseph Despenza who received a chiropractic degree from Life University. (He had, however, received training from Rutgers University prior to that.)
The 11 or so others you did not mention are from rather prestigious institutions. Just trying to discredit the film?
Ramtha, not withstanding, it is a most thoughtful film.

I have seen it and loved it. Awesome. I think lots of folks here would relate to the spiritual aspect.

if anything makes me wonder about 'last days' attitudes, it is articles of this nature.
what a shameful wasteland i live in.
Another point of view: When a lot of people are witness to a traumatic scene, they often assume someone else has most likely called for help. If you are alone, the only one, viewing the scene, you are more likely to stop and offer aid.
There are a number of social psychological studies that have shown this to be true.
the price of gas is getting rediculous here in northern california!
