Love_Truth,
You can pull out any dictionary definition of "angel" you want. Paul makes a dichotomy between all "angel" angels and Jesus. Live with it. You still didnt tell us what his message was since you say he wasnt making a dichotomy.
for the sake of argument lets assume that the current nwt is correct in rendering proskuneo as "obesiance" .
"but when he again brings his firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: 'and let all god's angels do obeisance to him" hebrews 1:6 the new world translation.. 1. if all (as in 100%) of the angels of god do obeisance to him, then he could not be an angel.
all (as in 100%) must include michael.

Love_Truth,
its more like "Love_Watchtower_Reasoning. The 1st chapter of Hebrews was all about Jesus NOT being an angel. LOOK AT THE POINT PAUL IS MAKING.
Do you know what DICHOTOMY is? He makes one between Jesus and ALL angels. Check it out. Then you tell me what the point of Heb chapter 1 was. Its amazing that you cant see it.

I have heard that websites based in Finland have assylum.
thanks to many fine posters i think we can make an intelligent choice.
cast your vote and debate if you like.
Jesus seems quite real. YHWH does not seem real. I dont know if Jehovah is a myth. I would not be shocked to find out he was.
One thing is certain though. The BORG is not a myth. Its out there. And they want to assimilate YOU!
i am wondering how iminent did armageddon seem when you were jws?
how iminent does the wts feel it is today?.
i recall that for me it seemed that it could happen at any moment.
Im sorry your mother died like that Corvin. The must have been hard.
Those were some great posts everyone. It seems the furthest out the JW mind can fathom the world going on is about 5 years. I would have to agree. I couldnt imagine it going on beyond that at anytime but here I am 15 years later and such.
recently i got the winter edition magazine of the ontario skeptic news and found a great six page article on "can a skeptic believe in god?
and what a great read it was, some of the points were well versed.
it went into some detail of believers and non believers arguing about god, what i found interesting was how at the end of the argument both sides would have felt they had won the argument.
I am skeptical of atheism.

I am wondering How iminent did Armageddon seem when you were JWs? How iminent does the WTS feel it is today?
I recall that for me it seemed that it could happen at any moment. It always seemed to be on the verge of happening. I couldnt imagine graduating highschool. That was way too far out, even though I was only about 13. There was no way armageddon wouldnt be there by then. I remember seeing "Back to the Future II" which took place like 25 years in the future. I would be like 35 then. I remember thinking we didnt have a chance of making it to 2015. I am finding out Time moves very fast. I was 18 like yesterday. But that was 6 years ago.
I specifically recall one elder's expectations he gave right before the thoecratic ministry school. He said "It probably won't come tommorrow but it could. I would say most likely it will happen in 2-5 years. Anything after that and its very iminent." I would say he finally hit the end of his rope. This was in like 1992. So it has been 12 years since armageddon was about 2-5 years out. I cant imagine why Jehovah would not alter his plans to go along with this man's schedule. I wonder if the WTS society is ever going to come out with a statement of somesort saying
"Ok folks we are all out of ideas. We have no clue when or if ever this armageddon thing is coming. We were pretty sure that the 20th century would be the end. We said it with brazen assumptions, it is true. We are in it for the long haul now, we have come too far to quit on the destruction of nearly the whole human race to give up hope."
due to cable rates going up, again, we have decided on getting a dish.
my mother in law has direct tv and a friend has dish network.
they appear very similar to me.
the Dish Network is cutting several very popular channels and has no intention of returning them anytime soon. I know for sure Comedy Central is getting the axe. I dont know what the other one are but as I recall they were pretty big also.
Dish Network sucks the big one. I have cable and the cost is out of control but my Cable Modem keeps me in it. My high speed connection so ROCKS. It is so fast I cant believe it and I have had it for years now. Its as fast as you can get at home. DSL cant touch it. Satellite cant even smell it.
i recently came across this letter from one district overseer to an elder: .
"you did well in silencing the unspeakable teaching of the apostates.
from these are the "wandering stars" referred to in the prophecy, who wander from the narrow road of the commandments into a bondless abyss of the carnal and bodily sins.
Clever Farkel,
I think you have a paradox though. Your point was well made but then the deception you used in the opening actually gave some credence to the letter you were criticizing. Paradox.
i was talking to another apostate heathen bastard ex-dub the other day and he told me his son...also ex-dub...is taking a college course in religions.
he said his son mentioned he learned of love and unity among many beliefs he's learning about.
i changed the subject and it made me think of the love and unity i have personally seen when i was doing the lord thing at various churches.
Information suppression is when you don't tell someone pertinent information because you decide it is best that they just don't know about it. For example I didnt know about 1975 until the early 90s. I also didnt know about John 1:1 till the mid 90s.
My mom knew about these things the whole time of course. Information suppression is a form of deception but it is passive enough to not get the designation of deception as long as the person comes clean and admits it is true without trying to conceal it once it is known.
I have seen the look of shock on the face of my aunt when debating my uncle about scripture. He simply gave her a reluctant nod of his head as he closed his eyes. That is an example of information suppression. Knowing full well that someone would be effected by information that you know and have every responsibility to tell them when it pertains to such an important aspect of someone's life and future.
