I am not a firefighter, but I am a member of Emergency Medical and Rescue Services. Most of my collegues are firefighters, and they have been called to the scene to give aid to the rescue efforts. I was supposed to go, but I didn't find out about all of this until 2pm. Time is not of abundance, so they left, but I am currently on stand-by with NJ Emergency Management...i feel so helpless sitting here watching instead of helping. All those people still trapped, calling for help on their cell phones....it will take weeks to search through all the rubble. This is not a jet crash, or a neighborhood ravaged by a tornado...hell the Murrah building bombing doesn't even compare. I don't know if any of you have been to NYC, but these buildings were massive...two of the largest and tallest building in the entire world! When you look at them, it almost takes your breath away, and when you go to the top, you can see for miles and miles. 110 stories...all collaped upon itself. It will be really strange to go to NYC, and not see the towers. Anyway, I will pass on your thanks to my firefighter collegues, memebers of Slackwood Fire Company, Station 21-Ladder 21 and the members of Lawrenceville First Aid and Rescue Squad 29, Apparatus 129-1.

i will pray for their families.. to all the fire fighter in the us and the world over.

Watchtower Article Titles We'll Never See
by COMF ini saw redhorsewoman's thread title, "the time is at hand", and knew why she picked it: because the society uses that phrase all the time (or used to when i was in, anyway... i'm betting they still do).
it reminded me of a district assembly part from along about 1983 called "now is the time" (can any of you brighter types guess which song they chose to accompany it?).
this got me to thinking of how the society has these pet phrases they use over and over again, often featuring them in some thinly reworked format (like going from "now is the time" to "the time is at hand") as article titles.

WoW!!!!!!!!!!!All of this is sooooooo interesting!!!!! I was raised in the truth, and I never knew that any of this occured!!!!! I am floored! My mother is still an active member. What do you suppose the reaction would be if she were to inquire of these events you all speak of...i.e. the Bonham incident? (which I still only know little about) Do you think they would answer her, or do you think they would get scared and ask her who she has been speaking to? Well I am just absolutely sickened! That is horrible. Wow...this is really pissing me off, how they have such audasity (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) to speak badly of intellectual accomplishments...and what the hell is the 'blah blah blah' crap? by exodus ina side of relief for me but angry for what happened after the announcement of my disfellowship from the wts.
i urged my mother not to attend because of the emotional trauma and agony you experience.
she's diabetics and any emotional let down can cause her serious problems.
