I was thinking about the "glorious" past of my association with the witnesses..... and I started thinking. Were there ever things that really really bothered you that they were doing, and it made you stop and think about what you were really getting involved in? Mine would be at an assembly. I remember a talk given about outlandish clothing, and beauty being "like a ring in the snout of a pig" or whatever that scripture quote was... and I remember looking around me and noticing all the younger sisters , like myself, who were wearing skimpy dresses, spaghetti straps, etc.... I was thinking "Has the assembly turned into a fashion show and mating call?".... I noticed these same girls were taking notes, and yet it seemed to fall on deaf ears...... There seemed to be cliques everywhere, it was as if I were at school and all these people were flirting, barely dressed, etc..... That was something that always bothered me, and made me snap into reality, and I realized that these people really were not as "different" as they claim to be. Any thoughts on this?

Are you *really* into something?
by DanTheMan ingetting to know various personalities on this board, i get to feeling that a missing component in my life is to get *really* into something.. for instance, the board has our resident intellectuals and political debaters.
i am in awe of the broad scope of knowledge and seemingly instant recall of obscure facts that many on this board seem to have.
i consider myself to be fairly intelligent, but i am light years from being a true intellectual.

I am really strange, I suppose. I am 23, and I am into doing things at home. I am into board games , particularly Star Wars Monopoly, and Scrabble. I also enjoy knitting, and drawing. I like to read new age stuff (paranormal, pagans, etc.).....I am a huge Star Wars fanatic, I go to conventions and I like costuming :^) . What else?... I really am fascinated with horror and gore movies and cult films. I really dig my horror DVD collection. I am boring, what else is there to say? haha....

XJW's and Mental Health Disorders
by ColdRedRain inas many of you now know, i was in the mental ward for a breif period.
after i got out of the mental ward, i was placed in group therapy where i am today.
i talked with my therapist today and he mentioned a very interesting fact.

I suffer from Anorexia, Bulimia, seasonal depression, and social anxiety disorder. My therapist's all say that it comes from the pressures of trying too hard to be accepted by others and how they perceive me. I know I can honestly blame the society for my mental troubles. This isn't something that ran in my family, so it wasn't genetics that caused this to happen to me. It came from constantly feeling that everything I did wasn't good enough, that I might slip and say the wrong things, etc...... Special thanks to my "brothers and sisters" at the hall. :^/

Has anyone ever munched at the memorial?
by Sirius Dogma ini have always wanted to do that at a kingdom hall.
over the past few years i celebrated pesach (passover) with some jewish friends and it was so cool to be able to munch the food.
besides the jewish tradition was much more fun and was more like a party.

Do you ever wonder if the ones who partook in the drinking and eating were just crazy? I mean, how do they know they are one of the annointed? There was a brother at my congregation that always partook, and I remember ,even as a child, thinking "Is he crazy?...."
