Hi shecky
Welcome to the board, why don't you tell us a bit about yourself?

back when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.
round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.
folks, i am talking about chaperoning!
A few years ago there was a documentary about jw's in the UK. There was a young couple who were engaged, the sister lived alone so they sat the car everytime he visited, even took a flask of coffee. The neighbours must have thought they were mad, but they just kept saying about what a good witness this was.
Does anyone else remember this program?

I'm sure this chaperone things causes more problems. It must happen that on the off chance a couple do end up alone together all they are thinking about is sex, and it's more likely to happen then.

I had a friend, who wasn't even allowed to talk to her boyfriend on the phone without one of her parents present! I wonder why that relationship didn't last five minutes.

5 YEARS??? Simon can't even remember how long we have been married, it will be 7 years in April[8>]
when we have american jw relatives visit they are frequently shocked at the difference between how they live their lives and how jws over here live.
its almost as if we are from two different religions.. that divide seems to be getting wider.
i have noticed in the past two or three years a noticeable relaxation among british jws.
I suppose it may be different in different areas, in both the halls I have been in, I don't know of anyone who celebrated holidays. I think it would have been one of those back room meetings, if they had.
Edited for my terrible spelling
there is this great big hole in my heart.
he started acting poorly last wed. he stopped eating friday and went downhill steadily.
i raced him to the vets.
Bboy
I noticed that too. Our cat was put down after being run over. Simon must not have noticed when he posted it.
loved ones,.
liz here with some wonderful new kingdom songs that we came up with tonight in the jw chat room.. take sides with granola.
bless granola, o my soul.
Stay Awake, Stand Firm Grow Mighty becomes the meeting song....
Stay Awake, Sit Up Stop Snoring
take a break.... close your eyes.....and go back in time.... before the internet and dvd's.
before semi-automatic machine guns, joyriders and crack .... before sega, ps2 or super nintendo...way back..... i'm talking about hide and seek in the park.
the corner shop, hopscotch, butterscotch, skipping, handstands, football with an old can, bulldog, beano, twinkle and roly poly, hula hoops, jumping in enormous puddles and building dams... when astro wars, 'computer' tennis, pac-man and donkey-kong ruled.... the smell of the sun and fresh cut grass.
Great post Nic
You forgot Top Trump playing cards! - I had the dinosaur ones
funny how the prospect of christmas takes me back to my pre-dub days as a 7 year old.
christmas eve was spent making my present request list, duly guided by both my parents as to what to ask for.
once completed, the coal fire was stoked up and the precious list was allowed to be carried up the chimney where waiting elves promptly delivered my requests to santa.
I can wait to, while I was out shopping this morning I bought 2 gaint christmas stockings for the kids. Have to think of things to fill them now!
