well, i've checked out on the whole sociological conditioning thing.
about how boys play with model cars and guns because they are expected to do so.
about how girls like to play with dolls and dress up only because that is how their mothers have conditioned them to behave in that way.
Great to see you here again Mike.
Take care now and DONT OVER DO IT. Unless of course you want to see all those female carers again? lol.
(((((Love to you both)))))

hey
forgive me for not knowing the appropriate etiquette on these boards...i've been df'd for 8 years now but still searching for friends who really understand how long it takes to get the whole jw thing out of your skin.... am kinda hoping i can meet some mutual minds on here!
you sound like a friendly bunch .
Hi and welcome to the board Hoofie (you tread the boards?).
Glad you took the plunge. I am sure you will find many here who can help and understand all the emotional pressure you are going through.
Unless you have been a dub that will be almost impossble to empathize with.
Have fun with your new experiences here.

this was in the paper tonight:
vancouver - the family of a jehovah's witness who died from blood loss during surgery in chilliwack general hosptial has had its claim for compensation rejected by the b.c.
supreme court although negligence was a factor in her death.
Hi Mary
any chance of a link to this article
Thanks

does anyone happen to have a copy of the july 8, 2004 awake?
i heard there is information in their regarding changed views on celebrations.
i would really like to read that article.
Have just had a quick look and there isnt an article specifically dealing with that subject.
Is it buried in another topic? Have you any other info?
Anglise
.
we all know that the wts has a web site at http://www.watchtower.org but i was wondering if we find this on the awake and watchtower magazines, or on any other litereature that they produce?
i ask this because we all know that they don't want to encourage too many witnesses to go surfing on the net looking at religious information out there, but they do want to have a web site to attract worldly people.
Yes
these are the latest mags AFAIK

Hi Altom
welcome to the board.
Sorry I am the wrong gender (although nearly the right age lol).
Other half almost fits your description though.
Hope you stay around and tell us more about your JW life when you feel able to.

being inactive, not going to meetings, and having the internet is a nice combination.
the last time i went to a meeting, a brother asked me if i had the internet... first of all, it was none of his buisiness, so i answered, "do you have it"?
he said no.. i know elders who do have the internet, so what, big deal... so, it's ok for elders to have the internet and not ok for non elders to have it?.
The WTBTS now publish their web address on the back of the mags, so the internet can't be all bad.
The internet is the same as most things some good and some bad, it is up to you how you use it. When asked this in the past by our cong PO I just asked him if he buys things from Smith's (A large bookshop/newsagents chain in the UK) and if so does he know which shelves he can look on for magazines and which ones he would be uncomfortable with. Or does he avoid all bookshops because some things in them he doesnt like?
I think "Let the reader use discernment" might apply here.
Anglise (of the now use all the shelves class)
