ok, here is a quick synopsis.
i was born and raised "in the truth".
i was df when i was 17 and moved away, got married, had kids etc....i came back into the "truth" at around 27 out of guilt and a strong need/desire to speak with my mother, father and sister again but since they lived back east and i lived out west they didn't really know that after a few years i became inactive again and now that dad's passed away and mom is sick i don't have the heart to tell them that i haven't been to a single meeting in over 10 years (except for the ones i go to when i go back to visit them and pretend like everything is aok and i am 100% yada,, yada, yada) any way, i just told my mom that me and the family are going on a cruise over spring break and you guessed it, she says, "oh no, you are going to miss the .....memorial!!!!????
I was thinking about telling her I contacted a kingdom hall in Puerto Vallerta and would go while in port that evening. What do you all think?
That's what you need to tell her!!! Just say you forgot to look that up before making your plans but there are KH's there.

i guess that one of my first memories, about 3 years old, had to be sitting in a hard chair being made to listen to a boring talk that i didn't understand.
we weren't allowed any toys or books to look at besides the wt publications...i remember getting taken outside and beat for something i did...but i didn't even understand what i did wrong.
i remember that our car didn't have air-conditioning and during the summer how hot and sticky i was by the time i got to the kh.
This thread has been very insightful so far! Interesting to hear the different experiences! I think it helps for people to be able to express their memories and tell their stories....

ok, so i'm at the dentist this afternoon - nothing major, just something i've been putting off for a while - and the dental assistant is doing her thing with my teeth - my mouth is wired open (i think i was able to tune into radio transmissions for a while) - and i've got my eyes closed, my glasses off, trying to relax in the chair, while listening to the piped in muzak.. suddenly, i can tell she's really getting into her work - she's leaning against my face and getting quite vigorous about whatever she's doing to my tooth.
then it dawned on me.... ummm... hello.... your breast is in my eye!!!
except my mouth is frozen and wired so that all that's coming out is unintelligible garble... and drool (from being wired open, not because it's the least bit "interesting").. so i'm thinking to myself, if i push her away from my face, she looks the type that would clock me for sexually harassing her... if i say anything to her about it, she'll be embarrassed and might screw up my tooth... if i wait a couple more minutes, she'll be done and i might have an interesting story to share with mr scully... finally, it occurs to me that they said i could give them a signal to stop what they are doing.

When my son was 3 I took him for his first dental appointment and they said it would be best for me to leave the room...little did they know that they had "little hell on wheels" for a patient. (I wouldn't have left him alone except I was good friends with the dentist and assistant!) After they probed around in his mouth, he thought he should be able to do the same to them...so he grabbed one of the tools and started chasing them around the room! Of course, they had to call me back there to get it away from him! They were laughing so hard they couldn't hardly talk! (I had to live with this on a day to day basis...so it wasn't as funny to me.) When I think back on it, I probably should have put him up for adoption!

various posters have mentioned how get-togethers and fun times socializing were frowned upon and discouraged somewhere around the early 80's.
everything changed, as far as the picnics, the dinner parties, etc.
i vaguely recall some connection being made to parties and increased "immorality.

I think that some guys posting on this thread are not mature enough to be having sex. Period.
If you're a man and you and whoever has a child step up to the plate and be a DAD. Period.
It's not the child's fault and should not be made to suffer because of 2 inconsiderate adults.
Everyone here knows how sex works...the fetus is in the woman and therefore SHE has control over her body.
Guys have so much already on their side legally, physically, etc. just GET OVER IT!
If it was the man who carried the child, there wouldn't even be a debate!
