i seriously do not understand how some people reason.
if they do reason at all.. my boyfriend has been friends with a couple of guys since highschool.
it turns out that both these guys are jw's.
Well, I think he isn't necessarily snubbing you but fears that you might OUT him and just doesn't know what to say or do about his situation. He sounds like a very confused person at the moment. Maybe you should think about having a chat with the two of them and pointing out that while you don't care what THEY do, you do care about how they treat others in the process. Shunning others while they are doing the same, if not worse, is pure hypocrisy!!!

if all goes as planned, two female friends and i will be heading for ocho rios, jamaica, for 7 days come march.
it's not near kingston, where there is supposed to be lots of crime and gangbangers.
we will be staying at "rooms on the beach" hotel.
Just be very careful!!! Be sure you and your friends stick close together and you should be fine. The hotel that I stayed at made sure that a staff member went outside with us and hailed our cabs, etc. He was concerned for our safety and gave me some good advice. He really encouraged us not to party away from the all-inclusive hotel. I felt pretty safe there, but it was wild out on the streets. The drug scene there is out of control! Trust your intuition and if you don't like the way something is going down and you feel uncomfortable...leave.
It is beautiful and you should have a wonderful vacation.

There are about 6000 bethelites
I thought the number was much less as they had already had a downsizing a few years back. I may be wrong though...does anyone here know how many there are at present?

i finally told my brother about my feelings toward the wt (he was never baptized) and i'm still waiting for him to respond through email.
how do you mentally prepare for it?
You will see this blinding white light and then you'll be floating on clouds and it will seem as if you are in heaven...well, not exactly. It will feel good though!
It definately takes some getting used to, but the best advice I can offer is to make another life Before you completely give it up. Have other friends (you may already) and be prepared for the response you might get from your parents! Hope it works out good for you.

i have always been impressed with the way the amish and mennonites live their lives.
if you are a person who believes that the bible is indeed the word of god and should be followed to the letter, then name a couple of other religions that follow the bible as closely as the previous two mentioned.
it's tough to do so.. if you were to look at the doctrines of the two religions above, we all know that they differ from mainstream christianity just a tad - even more so from jw's.
"separate from the world," It depends on what you mean by that term. If you are a Christian and follow Jesus then you will fellowship with the world...eating with sinners, etc. If you go by the "Old Testament" then you will isolate yourself like the Israelites did. I would say the latter would make you less Christian...

I had a Mennonite tell me that I was an immodest person because I didn't wear long sleeves and dresses to my ankles...really impressed me as the true religion!!! I really think you should do a little more research on these religions...Dateline had a segment on the problems in the Amish community not too long ago.

as a witness, i knew several men who attempted to grow beards.
when they did, and attended meetings, it did not take long to be talked to by elders and told, "as spiritual men, they should not display an outward form of rebellion.

Beards are evil because they scratch delicate skin!!! And I never know how much food someone is carrying in there! It's kind of like a squirrel carrying around nuts in his jaws...cute, but doesn't feel that great to touch!

It sounds a little fishy to me...wonder if the old guy just wanted some extra attention??? Now, I maybe would have believed it had it been a dog!!! But a cat? NO WAY!!!
