  i am an xjw and i have just discovered this interesting site.

  i am curious to know if anyone of you has left the jws and joined anything else.

  have any of you become christians?

  I ride my religion.... an 85 Harley... it demands little other than gas, never bad mouths me or my family, and gets quiet when I turn it off. If I ride "another" bike, it doesnt shun me or hate me, it just accepts me when I get back on it. If I ignore it for long, it reminds me by blowing the clutch or a tire.

  Show me a religion, or group of people, that will do the same and I will join it. Otherwise I hate the JW org for what it has done to me and mine, and the followers that let it happen.

  on thursday evening, i received a phone call from a young woman, i have been helping by talking and emailing.

  i have never met her.

  Remember too that the chat room can have major lags in it... sometimes minutes go by before all the people in there see that a person entered, or left.

  I am curious tho... beings I go in there and am racey, at best. Is the intention to raise the bar so that none can ever get offended? "Offended" is a relative term, each has thier own definition. Wouldnt it just be easier to close it, or have some clean cut person moderate it? Maybe just lock it, like the "boobie thread"?

  We will be de-nutting our two males here soon.... only dillemma is do I keep the balls in a jar or not.

  One of our cats, a male, sprayed after being denutted. Any leather would set him off.

  Inglewood cops are insane

  what the hell is up with the inglewood cops?

  i hope the cop that threw the punch not only gets fired but has criminal charges brought against him.

  what makes it worse is those dumb-asses are going to make it harder for the good cops (that make up 90% of the police force) to do their job, because everyone is going to assume all cops are like those creeps.

  I have a different outlook on this whole thing, having been there and been beaten by police (plural).

  As Valis said, once the cuffs are on, thats it... put him in the car, sit him on the curb, whatever. When a cop hits a defensless (cuffed) person, that is definitly a trampling of the bill of rights, at a minimum.

  Last nite on the news, they reported an indictment for the cop. He will probly lose his job, which I would agree with. I think he should do time as a violent offender, in the very system he helped fill.

  Am I vengeful? Yes I am. Me and my brothers that ride are constantly harrassed by the police. We are held without being arrested ( I always ask to arrest me or let me go), our bikes are photographed and logged, and we are searched for weapons and drugs. Profiling is alive and well and we see it daily. We live it.

  Not all cops are bad, or rude. Most have my utmost respect. Many do not tho, and this is what you saw on tv, blatent disrespect for a citizens rights.

  I hope to never become an apologist for anyone that tramples on the rights we have, that many of us served to protect. And think about the father of the kid, there watching it happen.

  Maybe thats why I dont have some of the same problems as others in here... if anything, I am an ex-child, now an adult. I dont dwell on any of the JW stuff, in fact I dont do much more than skim over much of the more serious stuff in here since it only "takes me back" to those days.

  Now, I will admit that because of my parents forcing the cult rules on us, it drastically changed my life. I deal with that the only way I can, realistically and positively. Thats the only way to survive in real life, to leave what you can of the past in the past. Of course not everyone can, but I can. It works for me.

  Americans pollute?

  just watching the news about the proposal in the uk to charge people for excess waste and they have the obligatory tv graphics and statistics.. apparently, the uk only recycles 12% of it's household waste and wants to raise this to 25% in 10 years time.

  but (and this did surprise me) people in the usa already recycle 32% of their waste!.

  i don't think we have any cause to criticise americans for causing pollution after all (normal people that is ... industry is still bad).

  I have a history with emissions testing and recycling here in the USA... I fought both. We won in Pennsylvania, against centralized emissions testing (read monopoly). My life was threatened, my home threatened, and outragious phone calls all hours would come in. All of this from the pleasent little "green" crusaders.

  Recycling cans and cardboard, glass and paper , may seem like a great idea up front, or on paper, but in reality, there is now a glut of the stuff. Prices are rock bottom because of it, and we know that money drives ALL governments, so you can figure it out.

  Locally in my town, I was told by a worker at the landfill that ALL the stuff picked up at my house goes into the landfill... trash, cans, bottles, etc..... most likely it is not profitable to hand sort the stuff.

  We are currently fighting emissions testing for motorcycles here in AZ also, since there are so few compared to cars that it makes no sense to do, and besides that, the "sniffer test" isnt accurate. I am hoping we are succesful in the near future.

  Most of the environmental policies are emotion driven, for the sake of politics. I dont believe in littering, ever ... but the unenforceable laws (littering fines) dont make any more sense than littering does.

  The "Clean Air Act" in the USA is a real joke. Lets say company A gets cited for having a polluting smoke stack, which pours black smoke out 24 hours a day. They are fined 1,000,000 US dollars. The Clean Air Act gives them the option to purchase "clean air credits" by junking vehicles, taking them off the road permanently. So, what company A does is set up a system where they advertise that they will pay money for your clunker, and junk it... .to clean the air, all while thier smokestack is STILL spewing black smoke 24 hours a day. This is a major thing in California, and is spreading. Another downside to it is that the older cars and trucks are dissapearing now, making parts hard to find.

  I believe in a clean environment, I do not believe in mandating it. It makes those proposing mandates seem better or smarter than anyone else, the elite. Not good.

  Dr. Spock and Spanking Kids

  there have been several posts about the way witnesses discipline their kids lately, this prompts me to ask.... has anyone had the "dr spock quote" thrown in their face by a witness?

  i have heard witnesses throw this about for years, but cannot honestly remember ever seeing it in print.

  and i have never read any of dr. spock's books.

  I was spanked/beat/whipped growing up, punched and pushed as I got to be a big teen.... it wasnt right.

  BUT... in raising my kids, my son and daughter lived with the reality that I COULD and MIGHT spank them. I instilled the idea that I was a serious threat to them IF they did certain things wrong. I never threatened them tho. Both of them got a swat when they were in diapers, to get thier attention. Neither were hit with anything manmade.

  Now that they are both between 11 and 17, I have infinate trust in thier judgements, and let them do thier thing knowing that they understand there is a price to pay when they F up.

  Most kids do not get any punishment, and I dont mean beatings. Little things like tv, Nitendo, playtime, desert, etc can be withheld for an extended time when a kid goes over the line. If there is no punishment, why follow the rules? Would you obey traffic laws if there were no cops handing out tickets? You may say you would here, in public, but look next time you come to a stop sign.... and roll thru it rather than a full stop. If a cop were there, you would stop very carefully. Same thing at home, with no threat of retribution, there is no respect.

  There is a major difference between disipline and abuse. Disipline instills respect and responsibility while abuse only instills hate which can lead to rebellion and eventually someones death or injury.

  Whats the right way to raise a kid? Who knows... it is a crap shoot most of the time. I am sure that Charlie Mansons mom thought she was doing a good job.......

  I have nothing but self esteem, not in a gloating way tho .... once I learned what it was and worked on myself, it was easy... still is. The same doubts rear thier ugly heads, but its easy now to ignore them, or push them aside. Only I can control my thoughts and emotions, which gives ME the power to live my way, the only way for me.

  You will do fine, just never stop thinking and questioning.... and work for you, no one else.

  And where the HELL are the boobies?
