I have found many intersting sites and support groups on NPD in the past week. Knowing that the disorder my MIL has a name and face and researching how to deal with the types of emotional (and other) abuse these people are capable of is IMO the first step in getting my marriage back on track! I hope this info will be helpful.

I missed it but my aunt is from the same town as the girl who was in the hospital and told us how huge her funeral was. How heartbreaking especially for the family who thought all that time that their daughter was alive.

JWs dont celebrate holidays or birthdays
by Elisabeta inor participate in numerous other "worldly" things but they do seem to be ok with committing adultery... .
maybe for the sole purpose of getting out of a marraige, who knows... i didn't think i was ever that bad, my kids say while there were moments that i was bad - he always "one upped me" - made my behavior justified.. in any case i am sure everyone here knows that jw's are a religious group of people that knock on your doors many days.
mostly on the weekends when your trying to sleep in or participate in some "indoor sports", lol... .

Welcome Elisabeta!
I was never baptized either, but with a DH who was raised in the religion and several active inlaws, I feel the sting of hypocracy on an almost daily basis. Best wishes to you and your girls, you deserve a better life! tika

Are scriptures missing from the Bible?
by tika ini have heard that the bible as we know it today is not in it's entirety.
i feel that this is deceptive and had people argue that the present day bible is how god intended us to read it because that is all we need/ it is presented how he wants us to have it.
i don't buy that and feel that god wouldn't "hide" any of the holy scriptures as men have done.

I don't think God had anything to do with it. Any thoughts?

You are young and you will go out into the world of work in year or two and find people you have more in common with. I don't keep in touch with anyone I went to school with. The people in my life that I consider actual "friends" are few and far between because I don't trust very easily and it takes someone a long time of me knowing them to feel close and consider them a true friend. I am ok with that, I would rather have one true friend in this screwed up world than a million acquaintances, but that's just me. My son is the same way. Some of his teachers bug me about him being anti social. He is a homebody and is doesn't mind being alone or home with me and his step dad. I don't think there is a thing wrong with that. When you are young, your so called "friends" can sometime get you in a heap of trouble. Hope this helps, and don't feel too lonely. You just need to put some time between you and your mistakes, believe me, in a few years it won't even matter... you'll be onto bigger and better things!!

How do people continue to buy into the Watchtower???
by integ infolks,.
with all the information out there, available for all to see; exposing the lies, hypocrisy, and outright ridiculousness (is that a word?..if not it should be) of this whole witness religion, how in the world are people still buying into this?.
is it because i don't have jehovah's spirit anymore?

tika
Not to mention, they drill it into your head not to seek out other information, that the garbage on the internet is from Satan, so alot of witnesses do not even seek out information. Many who do would just say we are evil for slandering the WT.

5 stages
by Anti-Christ ini was thinking about the different stages we go through when we start to find out the lies of the jw.
i find they are similar to the stages someone might go through when they find out they are going to die soon.
i think this one is obvious.

I think you are absolutely right. It is the process of grieving for a loss. Losing the core beliefs you were raised with is a huge one. My DH is in denial. I wish he'd move on to step 2. I think he would be much happier if he got rid of the chains that bind!

What Are Your Goals in Posting on JWD in 2008 ?
by flipper inwell, happy new year to all of you, my friends here on jwd !
it should prove to be another rockin' and rollin' year here on jwd !
so, what do you hope to accomplish or take away in a beneficial way from posting on this board in 2008 ?

I hope and pray that my DH will someday see that the WTS is nothing but a man made organization trying to control their members. It is encouraging to me to come here and see how many people have realized this, so even though he is still blinded by the "Truth" he has been taught his whole life, I still hope someday he will be free from their mind control.
