James Mixon Yep, my roommate is single. In fact, she has openly told me on more than one occasion that she's a virgin. And yes, I believe her. I can totally tell she is by her attitude and lack of knowledge regarding sex. I mean, she once said to me "sex is overrated!"
She also used to work for the housing authority, and had to do welfare checks on tenants of a low-income highrise apartment building from time to time. One time she opened the door to glimpse what appeared to be a male tenant lying naked on the floor. She was sure he was already dead based on his coloring, but she told me that she called a male co-worker up to check for her so she wouldn't have to lay eyes on his nudity.
I don't believe she was using that as an excuse so she wouldn't have to go anywhere near a corpse, because there were other times when she would describe to me in detail what stage of decomposition a body was in when she went to check on them, and having to clean up after it was removed from the apartment. It was not death that squicked her. It was male nudity.

Happiness and Freedom On A Paradise Earth?
by Disassociated Lady 2 inat a recent meeting there was a watchtower article about life in paradise.
they were saying that even when witnesses finally get there they will still be under the strict instructions from the elders and gb.
they may be given jobs that they will find unpleasant, also the preaching work will be ongoing because of all the resurrected people who need to learn about why they are given another chance.

Good point, James. Even my roommate, after announcing to me that she had been anointed, told me that she struggled with it for a while before being able to accept it. Not only was she surprised that God would choose her, but she had no desire to be anointed at first. For almost as long as I've known her (over a decade now) she would often talk about the new system and go into detail about all the things she looked forward to doing when it arrived.
Even now, months after being anointed, she talks about what she is going to miss on earth while at the same being excited about becoming a spirit in heaven and being stronger than angels, because, according to her, angels do not have immortality, but the anointed do. She says that's because the anointed have proven themselves to God by living a human life with original sin and weak flesh yet resisting evil, whereas angels in all their glory and perfection could still betray God, just like Satan and his followers did.
So angels can be destroyed, but the anointed can't. Has anyone else ever heard this? -

"Then go to your JC because an elder read this here who is not out."
Then report that elder for being on an "apostate" site in the first place! -

Thank you WT!
by Mandrake inwell here's the thing... my brother-in-law needed some marketing boost for his dental clinic (i'm a dental student by now, her sister, my girlfriend, also), so i designed some brochures and today they were ready at the print studio.. i told him... "look, i spent 20 years in that cult, they have a very boring message, and they still managed to achieve 7m or more adepts, so i will distribute this brochures in the area this way: just like in field service, drawing some territories and "preaching" block by block... just to know were and when our advertising is being delivered".
so i started preaching the "dental good news", it was so easy compared to field service!!!
everyone were very receptive in the clinic's neighbourhood (it's in a downtown area in santiago, cl).

Who is the "her" you're referring to? You've only mentioned a brother-in-law up to this point.

Do you have any shocking experiences of JW prejudice against non-JWs? I have one report to share.
by Island Man ina non-jw friend of mine told me of her experience at a just concluded regional convention that she went to.
she said that during some announcements after a song, there was an announcement advising the audience to be mindful of the need to safeguard their belongings because not all persons present at the convention are delegates.
she said she was shocked to hear this rather prejudiced announcement that clearly insinuated all non-delegates are untrustworthy and only delegates are honest.

by Listener inhttp://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/crime/article39058014.html#1.

elders in the jehovah’s witnesses church violated the confidentiality of steven lindhorst of paso robles when they told police about an alleged confession he made regarding child pornography, according to a defense motion.. .

Paso Robles is my hometown! I spent the first twenty years of my life in and around it before moving out of SLO County (against my will).

Ponderings of a Worldly Person
by Nevuela in35-year-old female in california here.
never a jw, but have had bible studies and attended several meetings and even a convention once.
i've always been agnostic with leanings toward the belief in some deity or other, although the more i learned from the jw's, the more i've learned to doubt, not just their teachings, but the fundamental teachings of all religions.

Barrold Bonds - Wow, you just think you know everything, don't you? Can I have what YOU'RE smoking? It must be nice to feel that level of absolute cockiness.

Landy - You're absolutely right. There IS a difference between being open-minded and being a gullible idiot. One key difference is that open-minded people don't twist other people's words around in order to build an argument against them for the sake of feeling superior. They take the other person's words at face value and offer a civilized, cohesive rebuttal, and if both parties continue to disagree on a subject, they accept the disagreement politely and refrain from name-calling (e.g. "gullible idiot") because ad hominems are at the bottom of Graham's Hierarchy of Disagreement (Google that and learn something, please). Open-minded people also do not assume they know everything. The more a person knows, the more he knows he DOESN'T know.
Yet again you are oh so certain that you understand what I am trying to say, when in reality you continue to twist my words around to suit your desire to troll me. How many times do I have to tell you? I said THE. THEORY. MAKES. SENSE. TO. ME. At no time did I say I actually believed the Illuminati are controlling the Watchtower. Do you not understand what a theoretical conversation is? If you can't reply to me in a civilized, non-snarky manner WITHOUT deliberately taking my words out of context, then you can leave this thread. Unless you apologize, I am ignoring you from now on.
