DFING FOR XMAS WTF? The july 15th awake said it was up to you and depended on local custom. it may have been a dfing offence in the early 1990's but as far as a know many jws celebrated the holidays this year. It is also not like you or any other christian with room temperature IQ believes jesus was born on dec 25th. the wts as always had the stance a wife should celebrate xmas if her wordly husband orders her to. wtf are your elders thinking?

Why JWs Arn't Growing Like Some Other Faiths
by Undecided ini was reading in the news about some churches don't have enough space to hold the members, as they are growing so fast here.
one reason i noticed was this:.
kara ruffin, along with husband mark and their two young children, will begin worshiping at the lawndale drive location sunday.

I think the problem is not "the preaching work" JWs did not invent preaching. Infact most churches preach hench why they have preachers. It is also not a lack of "love" JWs are not aliens. The problem is in reality most JWs peolple have problems with are not very social and are basically like street gangs in the hall. If you are not in their gang they'll beat the crap out you, or if fortunate they'll totaly ignore you. THe titles don't help either. You'll be suprise about the insane "acts of love" you will never hear about because the you weren't "in the club". I mean I've found out insane things after they happend and wonder why either we were not told until it was almost over, and you are stuck looking like a callous idiot, or johny come lately.
I think another thing no matter how you put it there are some things jws can't do with a straight face. THey know it is wrong or stupid, and you are the new person. So it is like they are selling you a used car. "Its just a lil rust" I think so many people are replused not by the religion its self but by the uneasy stalemate JWs put them through.
A:"I love your faith can I be one of you guys?"
B: "Well you'll have to believe the moon is made of cheese, and then drink gutter water."
A: "But the moon is not made of cheese and gutter water is disgusting cant I join you religion anyway?"
B: "Well no you can't until you concede to drinking gutter water, and believing in cheese moon."
A: "But that has nothing to do with 99% of your religion, and it is just stupid. Well what if I just worship with you guys with out joining, can't I still benefit from it"
B: "Well yes but we will make you feel guilty for benefiting from us with out joining us every meeting"

The reason is control. If tomarrow 30 million people became JWs the leadership would implode. I heard a member of the GB say that they could make JWs grow easily but it is not about numbers. Infact he said if JWs grew they would become just like the churches (now reflecting on this I wonder why is that a bad thing).
Also any hall that gets too big is broken apart instead of actually expanding like normal religions. THe leader ship is doing its darnedest to inhibit the potiential explosive growth in developed lands while expanding in more dependant developing nations. It is a really counter intuitive situation.
SO the reason JWs is not growing is basically there is a power struggle between people that want a small cult vs people that want a mainstream religion, vs people that want a holding company. I forsee a schism, but when is anyones guess. -

Everyone destroyed at Armageddon? How So?
by upside/down ini can't help but notice in almost every thread related to the subject, people mentioning who is or isn't going to be destroyed at armageddon.
this is a flawed understanding of the entire concept of armageddon.
scripture makes it clear that this is a war strictly against ungodly/antigodly entities (possibly some individuals).

U/D no offense but is this a joke? You sound like the watchtower's latest sales pitch of an armageddonless armageddon. Ubiquitously labeling most of the globe as "honest hearted" victims of Satan's evil system too oppressed by "individuals", "religous leaders", and politicians" to hear or practice "the truth". If this is not a joke then basically you are just propagating the watchtower's next generation of advertisement. Welcome to the club

JW Brochure "Keep On The Watch!"
by AlanF ini just got hold of a copy of the jws' recent 32-page brochure keep on the watch!
i'm surprised at some aspects of it, and not at others.. i'm not surprised that it contains much of the same old clap-trap about "the urgency of the times" and "we're so close to the end now!
" -- the same nonsense they've been spouting for well over a hundred years.

Eu:
I think you are right. I am not denying your oppinion. I have an issue like you said with sincereness. The watchtower is not writing the same pulp. It is different pulp. My thing is this. Screw the old JWs and what they think. I mean my dad still does not understand the wts changed the generation doctrine (and I don't care to set him straight) and still looks at the yearly stats to see if the anointed (1935) have declined (it has been increasing btw).
My question is what will the JWs in 5 to 10 years believe. Ten years ago the concept of the generation was hot, and 9 months later it was dead. Most of the new JWs have no idea the generation ever existed. If the watchtower continues (and my sources seem to not indicate a retrograde) then in about 10 to 15 years most of the new JWs are not going to know about how "chosen" JWs used to be, or how murderous armageddon was before they "changed" it. The wts already conceded that a person "studying" is considered to be a jw but not "in the lord". Meaning they are not marriage canidates. Then their other material says they can get married in the hall if they have scheduled a baptism (i would love to have someone study, marry in the hall, and then not show up on dipping day, oddly they may df you because they claim you are baptized by giving a speacial prayer).
They by words are eroding the benifits of getting baptized. By their message today if interpeted literally or sincerely spares a large portion of the worlds population because they are classed now by the wts as victims of "Satan's system", and not perpetrators. This is not a traditional JW message.

'Likewise, for over 125 years now, this journal, the Watchtower, has passed on Jesus' encouragement 'to keep on the watch'. How? As stated on page 2 of this magazine, 'It keeps watch on world events as these fulfull Bible prophecy. It commforts all peoples with the good news that God's Kingdom will SOON destroy those who oppress their fellowmen and that it will turn the earth into a paradise.' With a worldwide circulation of more than 26,000,000 copies in 150 languages, The Watchtower is the most widely distributed religious magazine in the world. By means of it, Jehovah's Witnesses, like the ancient gate keepers are urging people everywhere to 'keep awake' spiritually because the Master, Jesus Christ, is about to return and execute judgement on the system of things.
Gill no offense but thats not the same old message, and the SOON is an inheirent flaw rooted in christianity not wts doctrine.
Is any one on this site seeing the obvious bait and switch? I mean I know the wts is not stupid and so do many people. Sincerity has been more of a concern than intellegence. These pubs and mags are god forbid changing. SF posted a site that is basically a preminition of the wts in like 10-15 years if current trends continue. They did not even use the trademark "Jehovah's Kingdom". This message can be confused as trinitarian too. If the person did not know JWs are unitarian this is plano millenialist christian fodder.
The watchtower like I predicted years ago is giving up "prophet" or ""shepard" or whatever and becoming a thological version of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. It is plain dollars I think. You could sell more wares if you have a large demographic. Since in general more people donate with pocket change than larg multi billion dollar grants you by simple math need a thing that everybody can donate for. The tsunami is a great example. Any time jws take up collections you know the human interest is universal. Like wise acurately aproximating a theological event (think of how the jews aproximated a savior and forced the chronology to work wts style) to atleast 5 major religions is significant.
Notice the change from fortelling or expecting to tracking and ploting?

Dang it SF okay we are just as in the dark as the other non christian religions.
BTW if you don't believe Jesus died for you personally, or if Jesus actually excluded you from being covered his death what do you do?
As sick as it sounds the JWs have a better theoretical christianity. Jesus probally didn't die for you or anyone you know, you are not saved in any meaningful fashion by believing in him, and just stay out of his way when he comes to ask for his stuff back.
