After several talks I believe it is official. Armaggedon is dead. We can no longer tell "interested ones about armegeddon, but can only tell them about the new paradise government. The reasoning from the platform was in todays unstable war and terror filled world it would be wrong to promote a message of destruction because that is no different than what satans system provides. We are to offer the "good news of the kingdom" to soothe them. And talk about how Jehovahs new system will solve mans problems.

Comments anyone? I am kinda weirded out. THis was on a few assembly parts, but now it is in the service and tms meetings. So what does this mean? Do you hold out on telling them about armageddon until you get deep into study, or baptism questions, or is this just what you use to place mags?

The shift of the doctrine will make JWs like a regular rapture church. Where the general impression is the good are wisked off to paradise. Does that mean baptized jws should change their view to the same one that they tell the public. That the new system is the big picture and armageddon is not important anymore? Does this mean they should expect more people to survive it? Or is it only a better way to place mags. This new watchtower is confusing the hell out of me.

Circuit Overseer's Talk: " We need 5 meetings a week and weekly mags"

at the circuit overseer's talk last week he made the comment that some "of the friends" are finding it difficult to move ahead with jehovah's organization (tm).

the co said that a few had asked, "is it necessary to have 5 meetings a week, and a magazine every other week?".

"couldn't we do without one meeting a week, and have monthly editions of the watchtower?

The "problem" is JWs are not as loyal as they claim. THe watchtower does not control them. So more JWs are giving them the finger regardless of what the CO says. Many arguments now are simple speacial pleading falacies. Meaning they have no actuall argument, but simple begg you to listen because they are the CO, DO, Elder what ever. These appeals to sentiment are empty. One reason is they have no punishment for not making all the meetings. If they said if you miss one meeting you will die at armaggedon then people have a reason to go, but if you say if you miss one meeting thats like missing a physical meal (i heard this on the assembly) people say screw it I'll eat later on my own time. They cant have it both ways you can't not have a punishment, and yet expect people to eplicitly follow 100% of your eddicts.

The prolem is unlike 1975 fervor the new watchtower has become more main stream Every other talk now is saying not to tell people about armegeddon but tell them about the paradise, THats a HUGE change.

if they could get away with it theyed say postage prices are too high and command the elder body to use this site instead of mailing any donations. in the name of simplfing the work. I am sorta glad they have this site. Shows they are going in the right direction. I mean they must really trust the internet to accept money from it.

OMG this could be abuse what if apostates donate money! I am sure the wts would give it back wanting no association with apostates. Oh wait I forgot I am in the same universe I was in yesterday never mind.

i'm having a personal crisis of sorts i guess.

i left the organization because i realized it was a big lie.

i was especially struck when i found out that the society's position on christ as mediator was that he was only mediator for the 144k.

Um christ is only the mediator for the "so called elect". Thats why I don't trust christianity. The invention of purgatory or in JWs case "the new system" are attempting to solve the same problem. The Jesus never really said what he would do to the people that he didn't call so of slaghtering every one of them, but if he has the power to call people and he does not use it and a person dies isnt he bloodguilty? Various christians groups (and even "pagans") over the years have made up beliefs to awnser this paradox. Most involve some type of quest in the afterlife or next life that allows you to enter what ever the realm of the holy men after you pay your karmatic debit, even in christianity.

as we progress through the brochure, we've gone past the deception of the introduction and now comes "will you benefit?

page 19 reads: the crucial question is, are we making the needed adjustments in order to be counted worthy to be a part of that "new earth" under the "new heavens"?.

If you believed Watchtower theology you would believe that God accepts you only if you do works for him. On this basis you can never know if God will accept you. No wonder that dubs are never sure of their salvation. What a terrible plight they are in, not knowing where they stand with God, never knowing if they're good enough, constantly feeling guilty.

It could well be said that for a dub he/she is only as good as their last Field Service Report!

What are you smoking? JWs dont have a salvation doctrine! We have an avoid destruction doctrine. Two totally different things! I could go on, but your critique is so far off its almost blind. Do you even know any jws? Which do you hear them talking about being saved, or not being destroyed?

Confession of sin and the watchtower

hi everyone, it has been awhile since i have visited and i just wanted to share a few thoughts with you today on the topic of confession of sin.

for those who have never attended a church, i will explain the view of 'christendom" on the matter.

church for most christian denominations is a place of healing and recharging of the spirit.

The thing is the JW system seems to work well for people that dont give a S*, or clingy people(attention W*) that really enjoy crying on the elders shoulders get patted on their backs and sent on their way with very little "cleaning" (wow not commenting or being able to scrub "Jehovah's" toilet is a draconian punishment). It is the more independant people with a sense of um dignity that get curb stomped by the elder body.

Think of it how many halls you know of with a resident lush that has many kids by different partners, been baptize since forever, been on reproof inumerable times yet still manages to aux pioneer. It seems like only the political people or independant people get dfed the cry babies seem to do just fine. Maybe thats the game punishing those that um are not leaving the BS detector at home.

Some of you are taking it out of context. JWs don't need to confess sins to anyone. The WTS is adiamant about that. If you commit a sin and you confess to God and thusly are promoted a rank in jwdom your sin is absolved by God (because for some reason the holyspirit asigns these ranks and would not pick a guilty person).

The weird thing is the fact that for some reason you are supposse to want to get some spirit juice flowing off the elderbody to help you with your problems (except problems regarding blood fractions or abuse which the elders are not allowed to talk about anymore). If you dont go running up to the elders for help with your inner demons and get "caught" (ie God didn't help you) you're cooked.

It is a cartoonishly niave system that would work miracles if God or the holyghost or what ever was realy as proactive as the watchtower claims. In real life its a mess.

THe problem is you are realy only allowed to sin (that the elders know about) about once every 5 years or so. You are allowed unlimited private sins. So people rarely go for help thinking it is better to keep it quite. This is nonsense. People are far more imperfect than the WTS wants to admitt. And this gloden system of "non confession" usually turns into an inqusition.

JW's and government

my jw sister works for the postal service, wearing the uniform and driving one of their mail trucks.

not only do i think this is hypocritical given the jw stance on government, it pisses me off each time i go to the post office and read the stupid sign about postal employees and federal crimes blah blah blah - like, what makes them so much more important than any other working person.. anyhow this has been bugging me for some time and i'd really like to confront her one day about wearing a symbol of the government, but i doubt i'll ever have the chance.

And technically the postal system is privatized (ie ups and fedex), but the usps is a owned by the government

um most jws i know of are some type of civil servant or kissing cousins to one (such as working at a school). Look at how many JW firemen there are. Also in america it is legal to print your own currency but it is not protected by the fed.

So if the jws wanted they could use only watchtower dollars or whatever they would call them. The problem is many places probally would not take them. Look at the liberty dollar (and those are redeemable in real silver).

JWs believe that the "world" ALSO is in the grips of Satan (god of this system). What would you have them do, get out of the world? Which, btw, is somewhat akin to something I'll already said ... something which you haven't commented on yet:

Average Number Of Disfellowshippings Per Congregation Per Annum?

i've just been chatting with doug y****, a once upon a time stalwart of the local congregation.. he's recenly been disfellowshipped.

the usual reason, of course.

but he has shocked me with what he had to say.. he said that there have been between 100 and 150 disfellowshippings shared between the 2 local congregations since he became a member in 1966. there is a total membership of around 300 at present.

Us old hands (non-dfed) people realize that after a decade or so of attendance dfings means nothing. It did not sink in with me until the abuse scandal. More JWs were pissed that they were not dfed more than the fact people didnt call the cops. Then the ones that were DFed we reinstated in a few months to a few years. The there are people like firpo c*** that are are cyclically dfed. THe boomerange brothers i call them. Where the the elders keep throwing them out and they keep returning.

It dawned on me they want people to get dfed and never return. If you come back their is nothing they can do with you. Infact getting dfed is to your advantage. Think of all the fun stuff you now can do, and all the work you are banned from doing. Plus no more kissing A* because you can't talk to anyone. It only sucks if you have a dysfunctional zealot family. Then again why would you want a family like that talking to you anyway.

THats if you dont believe in the "privilages" BS.
