Happily,, my mother-un-law hasn't pushed us this year to go...yet... I would rather stick hot pokers in my eyes than go to that again!!!

My Story
by XJW4EVR ini was adopted into a jw family in southern california.
my birth mother gave me up after 6 months (the terms mom & dad refer to my adoptive/real parents).
she gave me up due to the fact that she already had a three year old boy, and back in the late sixties it was not as socially acceptable to be a single mother.

Hi xjw4evr..I enjoyed reading your story of your childhood with JW parents...Many JW parents were kind and caring and yet many JW parents raised their children harshly.. Glad to hear you were raised with loving parents and I will forward to reading more of your story...

The recipe you have for chicken gravy sounds yummy, anewme,,, I usually just make mine with flour,,, I think it would taste much better the way you make it.. I am going to try it your way the next time I make chicken gravy.. Thanks for the tip!!!!!

The worst films you watched
by greendawn inwe often talk about the best films that we have seen but what about the opposite, what were some films that really disappointed you either at the cinema or at home watching them from a dvd (or vhs though that got outdated now)?
one film i found very boring was the "horse whisperer".

I thought "Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan a total waste of time and bad acting.. I normally like Pierce Brosnan.. but not in this movie

Where were you when the realization hit, that the WTS was not in the truth?
by whyizit ini was listening to a testimonial by valerie acuff and she said that she was sitting in an assembly, looking around at the crowd and thinking to herself, "this is your family, these are your people.".
she said at that moment she heard a voice inside say, "these are not your people, this is not your family, get up and leave now, and don't ever go back.
" so she took her two children at that very moment and left, and she never went back.

When the elders came to me wanting to disfellowship my mother because she had mental illness and could "bring reproach" on Jehovahs org. I started to wonder whether God really directed them.
They even asked me for advice on how to deal with the "problem" Which I found confusing as they were supposed to be acting on the direction of Gods spirt .
It wasn't until the summer of 1986 at the Toronto District Convention , that my husband and I both looked at each other and decided to leave.. As a few others described here... it was such a feeling of freedom and relief to just walk away.. After that we gradually faded for a few months and then decided to tell family and friends ...The elders formally announced our disassociation from the organtization.. It was a couple of years ago when I decided to search the internet for info on the JWs and found this site.. That really opened my eyes to their lies and confirmed to me that we made the right decision..Before that ,, I always had a nagging fear..what if they were right after all??? Now I no longer worry..I know I made the right decision for myself and family to leave

it has been five years since i was baptized and i wish i could take it back.
i woke up this morning feeling incredibly sad, lonely and whats worse i woke up feeling empty.

Don't worry.. The depressing memory of your day of baptism will slowly fade into blurry history after awhile.. I got baptised about 30 years ago now.. but I can't remember the day,, the month or year.. I can't barely remember it happening..But I remember telling the elders we were never coming back..Now that's a great memory!!!!

Now that would be amazing if Taylor Hicks won.I think that Chris definitely has talent and Simon likes him.. but he is not that different from a lot of good rock singers. Taylor has a different style .. and he has lots of soul and talent..And Simon didn't want to let Taylor go thru to Hollywood in the first place and told Paula and Randy they would never put him into the next round... If he makes it close to the end.. or even wins it all.. Will Simon actually admit he was WRONG for once???
