relationships
by Jerry1 inas a never-been jw, i mostly lurk here trying to learn how to deal with my jw daughter.
one thing i have learned is the many relationships that are so sadly hurt or destroyed.
i live near atlanta where there is a church pastored by a man named andy stanley and i am going to post a link to his site where there are some sermons.

grief & jw's?
by carla inreading the other thread made me wonder, do jw's ever truly grieve at the loss of a loved one?
i can see in front of other jw's they feel the need to maintain the party line, but in private?

Thanks for the kind words Emma, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your mother..don't be afraid to just break down and have a good cry,, It won't change anything of course,, but it does help with the healing..
Thanks for starting this thread Carla,, I feels good to keep talking about these experiences,,I find for myself.. it is really healing to be able to talk about it,,especially with others who have similiar experiences..

I lost my mom in my early 20's when I was expecting my second child. I know I felt the grief. Emotions are high enough when you are pregnant, but when I went to the viewing I broke down sobbing and had to leave the room.
Some made comments to me after that I shouldn't grieve because now she would be resurrected, so I shouldn't be sad over her death,, I said to 2 sisters visiting me,,, that Jesus wept when Lazarus died even though he know right after he was going to resurrect him. So why shouldn't we show grief?? The sister said to me that she had never thougth of that before.!!!!!..Dubs really don't know or understand the bible or Christ at all..They are a true cult!!!!

We used to go bowling and also rollerskating every Sunday nite as Dubs. It seems to be the two activities the society thinks are harmless to JWs. NOt sure why.. I love the rollerskating even though I wasn't very good !!!
The last time we went bowling was about 8 years ago for my husband's work's Christmas party..A few of my kids birthday parties were bowling parties.. They were popular when kids were ages 8- 10.. at least around in our area.

About half the DF's go back? Really?
by AuldSoul inj.r. brown said about half the df's go back.
i know some who went back and promptly faded, some who went back and were "bt" jws (barely there), a few who went back and quickly got df'd again usually before they even got privileges back.. but the one that takes the cake (in my opinion) is the former po of my parent's congregation who had been giving dc parts for years getting disfellowshipped a couple of months after giving the rousing talk, "abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good.
" only after his reinstatement did i discover that was his third df.

In our congregation a young brother was DF'd.. not sure what for. His parents were staunch JWs. This young ex-brother married a girl who not a witness and his mother preached to her and had a bible study with her and his young wife eventually became a baptised JW as well.. This young brother , I think mostly because of his new wife believing.. gradually became re-instated as a good standing JW.. They were nice people we hung out with a few times as young couples.. I wonder if they have stayed JWs.

The Lake House
by mouthys_gdaughter ini want to see the lake house so badly!!!!!!!!!!!
im not really sure i understand how keanu reeves and sandy bullock write letters to eachother back and forth between two different years.
i suppose i can understand how keanu writes sandy letters for the future, but i dont get how she can write them back to him and he receives them.

I definitely want to see it..but I think I will wait until it comes out on DVD. Stories about time and how future and present intersect are always interesting..Plus I like Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves..

It would be hard for even the most diehard Dub to refute that the Watchtower society is connected to the UN based on that article Steve posted..How do they explain their actions to the faithful followers?? If they even dare question,, or risk facing a JC..

The last tug of trained fear.
by Steve Lowry ini was wondering if anyone here could remember their last tug of fear in their stomach after they left the watchtower society, concerning armageddon coming where you may have had a moments regret or fear of not being a jw, and so you wouldnt be "saved".
you know, the stupid conditioning we as jw children received growing up as jw kids.
i realize this may seem like kind of a weird question, but i remember my moment, and going through that experience it was very a freeing feeling once i came through it on the other end.. i was visiting a church in about the 1984 time frame.

Sometimes when I would still get a pang of fear that Armageddon might really come , but I was more worried that my kids would die rather than myself..I still sometimes had a fear that maybe the Dubs really had it right.. It wasn't until I found this site a few years ago, and started finding out about the many lying deceiful teachings and activities of the borg( like the UN involvement) that I knew I had made the right decision leaving the cult of the JWS. I knew they had no knowledge of God or Christ at all and were not at all spirit directed.
