Older generation JW's are being sacrificed by the Society? Why?
by nicolaou inwhat has changed in the last few years?.
cheap paperback books.15 minute rule.reduced pioneer requirements.public/private watchtoweronly one pair of mags to public per month.doctrinal changes re 'generation', 1935 etcpublic talk cut to 30 minutes.and now the book study kicked into the long grass.this is an organisation that, since the big 1995 'generation change', is clearly slimming down and planning it's future srategy.
real estate is being sold and essential operations are being relocated to more cost efficient locations.

I agree that these changes are to keep the younger generation from straying. They aren't worried about the older generation as they are so used to blindly believing everything as "new light" anyways. Most would be too scared to question or doubt. I know my motherinlaw who is now in her mid-70's accepts any new changes without question and in her will she is leaving them a substantial amount of money before any family gets a cent. Also her elderly sister-in-law,who pioneered for years, never married but is quite wealthy is leaving all her wealth to the society.

WHAT MADE YOU LEAVE? Doctrine or people?
by chuckyy inhi.. just wondering what made you take the final leap out of the org?
was it doctrinal in that certain things just didnt add up or was it because of the actions of people in the org.
that made you leave?

Many things combined, I didn't like the hypocrisy that some could do what they wanted but they always had comments on the way others lived their lives. I didn't like the control and basing your love of god(whoever that may be) on the amount of field service hours one put in. It was when the elders wanted to disfellowship my mother (who had been diagnosed and hospitalized for schizophrenia and depresson),because they said she was bringing reproach on jehovahs organization. I had to talk with them to not do it as she would not be able to talk to many of her dub friends that she loved. Then they asked me.. a lowly publisher what they should do.I realized they did NOT have any type of true spiritual direction from any god.

I love my job as a school crossing guard and seeing the kids off to school. I hate the rude drivers who wont stop or get angry at me for making them stop for the kids to cross safely.

What's the big deal with Jesus' "sacrifice"?
by bluesapphire inwhat was the big deal with that dam tree to begin with!

A comedian on the comedy network joked that we should all sin as much as we can, since Jesus died for our sins. I found that hilarious. It really does make you wonder how god would reason that his son being tortured, dying painfully and then being resurrected really changes things. I guess god makes all the rules that is why he is god!!!

drop in two scoops of good vanilla ice cream and pour in a well chilled, quality brand of root beer and fill to the top.

Is Satan getting a bad rap?
by lovelylil inthe thread on spiritism got me thinking about all the ridiculous things the jw's in my hall blamed on satan.
like their kid getting a cold and they had to miss the meeting or getting a flat tire on saturday, thus missing field service.. i always wondered if satan is such a powerful spirit creature, why the hell would he waste his time flattening tires or causing a runny nose?
you would think he would be causing wwiii or another plague or something!.

I remember when I was about 6 years old and my mom was a fairly new jw, she started hearing voices and things going on in the house. Helpful dubs told her to throw out all old Christmas decorations and any thing given to us by "unbelieving" friends or relatives. They said these things were bringing Satan and his demons into the house,.,It didn't help as my mother was actually sick with schizophrenia. When she was taking medication and getting better, her well-meaning dub friends told her the medication would allow Satan into her mind.. So she started throwing her meds down the toilet and telling the doctor she was taking them.Satan sure is a busy spirit!!!!!!!!

That's a pet peeve of mine too when delivery services ask for directions . They are supposed to be a delivery service-they should look it up themselves! When you order pizza, the delivery guy doesn't ask for directions and never gets lost!!
