This talk just reaffirmed to me that the "god" the dubs worship is cruel and bloodthirsty. Not the type of god I would want to worship or live in any eternal paradise worshipping. This guy is a total fruitcake, but you have to give him one thing,,,, he knows how to talk to hypnotize and keep the dubs in fear of straying from the organization. As long as you still have the blinders on , you would really be terrified to ever think of leaving.

The Douchiest Phone Message In History
by Elsewhere ini'm giving you until a 3:00 pm deadline to listen to this phone recording and post your thoughts on it.. http://www.holytaco.com/2008/06/27/the-douchiest-phone-message-in-history/.
in all my years of studying douchebaggery, never have i encountered anything like this.
its such pure and unadulterated douche that i wish i could bottle it and use just a drop of it at a time.. the back story on this is that a girl named olga was out with her friends in the marina district of san francisco (known for being a popular hang out for douches), and she talked to this guy named dmitri for all of two minutes.

Guess I can understand why he isn't attached or married, He sounds desperate! Kind of scary too. I think he would be one of those control freaks who thinks he owns you and if you ever had the "nerve" to break up with him, he would stalk you or maybe something even worse than that.

I agree with some other posters here that there are that group of dubs who will believe anything written or spoken by the governing body.My mother-in-law is a perfect example. She loves to hear about all these new "truths".She figures she is in a very "special crowd of people" by going along with all this crap. The funny thing is she is also a well educated nurse(now retired) who also believed in higher education for all her sons.

My daughter and I watched the movie last week. We both loved it. It had everything I loved about the series and more. I think it doesn't maybe appeal to the 20something crowd as much as the women in the movie are in their 40's and Samantha turns 50 in the movie. I say that because my daughter enjoyed it but didn't quite get all the fuss and she said she didn't understand why Carrie was so in love with Big as he was , in her words."really old" , My daughter is 22 and my 19 year old niece went and she didn't really think so much of the movie. I can't wait for it to come out on dvd to watch it all over again.

I think it was not being allowed to be yourself. Everything was thought out for you. I always felt afraid of "worldly people" and worldly things.Being a witness makes you fearful. I didn't do enough with my life when I was younger because I foolishly let myself be brainwashed by my mother and the jws to think only to the "new system" and not live for my future life here and now.

(How) Does Truth Set Free?
by Narkissos in"the truth shall set you free" (cf.
john 8:32) is the kind of sentence that potentially transcends any contextual setting.
as we know only too well, it has been used over and over again in religious propaganda and is very easy to return against it (i.e.

I am happy you started this thread, because I had been actually thinking about this very question this week. I wondered how I really felt free in the "truth" when I never really realized I was enslaved by the politics and policies of the organization. The only truth that sets you free, is being true to yourself living life as is best for ourselves. I heard a great quote by of all people, Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock of course. He said that all he wanted from life was to "have truly used his life". In other words, the freedom to do what and all you desire in life is ultimate. It is what really defines being alive and what (if I did believe in a creator) is what I feel a truly loving creator would want for all of us..Not the power-hungry, cruel god of the jws.

Our last meeting was the summer district assembly in Toronto- 1986.I had been having doubts for a long time before that, some doctrinal and some were just issues with the way certain people and matters were handled by elders. I had been talking to my husband about how I wanted to no longer be a jw, but he was having difficulty admitting for a long time he felt the same way. It was another hot boring assembly day, where our kids couldn't keep still. We listened to the speaker droning on and on about the same mindless meaningless crap. My husband and I looked at each other and said"lets get out of here" and we never went back . Our children told us they are so grateful we didn't raise them as jws and they were able to live a life with choices.
