I won a muffin yesterday.Which isn't much of a win, because I think their muffins suck. But I don't buy Timmy's too much because I think they are overpriced and a rip-off, The best donuts are Krispy Kreme, I think.

Would You Stay As A Witness, Even Though You Knew It Wasn't "The Truth"?
by minimus inwhen a witness starts thinking, there comes a time when decisions have to be made.
when you know that their bible chronolgy is unsupported or that the revelation climax book is absurd, it begins the process of 'what are you going to do now?
'......what could get you motivated is the realization that "love" is not the hallmark of this organization.

Once my husband and I decided it was a pack of lies and nonsense, the only family we risked losing was his parents. But we felt our kids quality of life was more important. We left behind a few close and dear friends, but we have found friends who are not JWS who are friends because of who you are, not because the society tells you who to be friends with. My husbands parents did not shun us after all. even though they were counseled many times by elders to not speak to us. But it wouldn't have mattered, we were leaving anyways. Our lives have been so much better for this decision. I look back at the years spent as a JW as lost years. At least my kids were free to make their own lives and decisions.Would I have left if my husband didn't want to? Not sure as I didn't have to face that issue.I was raised in a home with a believing mother and unbelieving father. It is not an ideal family life either.

To, A Friend in Need
by calamityjane inas you can see afin, from soj's thread started today, your pompous attitude is not going to get you anywhere here.
obviously we had an effect on soj and we will eventually have the same effect on you.
i for one don't like your preachiness or holier than thou attitude.

I think AFIN has some serious belief issues. Why hang around a group of people who would be considered as "bad association" by the ORG. Obviously, AFIN has to keep making these lame and arrogant postings to reassure him/herself. Or AFIN has delusions of his/her postings bringing some new revelation to all of us. I think AFIN should seriously consider why he/she posts here and reevaluate his/her own faith and beliefs. Otherwise, AFIN just likes to be annoying and needs to get another hobby..

She Went To Sleep And Woke Up 30 Years Later
by dh injust came accross this interesting story, it's old news but still thought it was an interesting read.... .
she went to sleep and woke up 30 years later .
the real-life story of annie shapiro - who fell into a coma at age 50 in 1963 - is more remarkable than the movie based on her miraculous re-awakening.

What's The Biggest Lie The Witnesses Tell?
by minimus inis it about the blood issue?
about the fallability of the governing body?
that they really love one another??
-
lilybird
Well . they are liers, sad pathetic liers. Waiting for the new system that will never come. Tearing familie apart. Becoming lying clones of the governing body's doctrines. Killing innocent babies with their ridiculous blood doctrines. I am just happy I am free.

That, as God's organization on earth, they are the ONE true religion...all of their other teachings and brainwashing is based on getting people to believe this.....
I agree with rwagoner's post also. The one big lie allows all the rest to be believable. -

We have a golden lab. We have had him since he was a puppy, He's great with kids and he gets us out walking every day even when we don't feel like it. He understands most everything you say, especially when it is food. The only tricks he does is. he wil roll over or lie on his back for a cookie. My daughter has also taught him to balance a cookie on his nose and then flick it into his mouth. He is very spoilt and spends long hours sleeping on his favourite spot on the couch , He sleeps on his back with his legs in the air. Its very funny. If you sit on that part of the couch he will stare at you until you move because he thinks it is his personal spot. He is like a part of the family and we really enjoy him.

There was a young sister in our congregation(21 years of age). She became engaged to a 45-year old brother, who was recently widowed and had 7 small kids. One was just a baby. Not sure what she was thinking.. anyways, after being engaged awhile. she changed her mind and said she wasn't sure. Her family was happy, because they didn't want her marrying a man with all those kids. But the elders met with her and told her that she HAD to marry him. Since she was engaged, that was as good as getting married. We went to the ceremony, the bride was an hour and a half late. I am sure she was trying to work up the courage to actually go thru with it all. But she did. They had lots of problems. Her husband ended kicking out his teenage son, because he was jealous and thought something might happen between his new young wife and his son. His son lived with my husband( we were just engaged at the time) for a while , He was a psycological mess. I felt so sorry for him.He moved away after we married and we lost touch with him. The brother and his young wife had another baby together. The last time I saw them was 18 years ago. The last assembly before we left. She didn't seem that happy. I never found out if they are still together. We still shake our heads that the elders felt they could mess with her young life and force her to marry that man who was way too old for her. Its true. Some elders get on real power trips.....
