The Bible as far as I am concerned is made of some fact and mostly fiction. It was written by men and from different viewpoints.Gensis is definitely a fairytale book.

Do you think that the Book of "Genesis" is a fairytale?
by booker-t ini mentioned before on another post that i am in college working on my ba degree and i am having such a "hard" time with believing in the bible since taking my science class.
the information that i am learning is totally destroying my faith in the bible.
i still believe in jehovah and jesus and would never chose the "atheist" way but i am wondering if maybe the bible is just a book of fairytales to teach us a lesson.

Prince has always been a legend in his own mind..but I enjoyed his performance..he's still talented in his own quirky way..but really... I wonder what the Dubs think of him professing to be a JW...

I hated that all that counted was the number of field service hours you put in and how many mags were placed..They didn't value someone who was actually trying to just be a good JW.. I hated that everyone was always judging what others did but they did whatever they pleased. I hated the hyporcrisy and rehashed talks we had to llisten to. I hated giving up weekends that should be spent doing fun things with your family because of meetings and field service..

What was the "last drop" which made you to leave JW organization?
by Lehtiveli inthis is a littlebit of quiz but still worth of talking.
so, what was the last thing which made you think that jw's are not "the truth"?
i'm trying to collect things, which are crucial points for jw beliefs so i can write something about all of those things.

My doubts started when they wanted to disfellowship my mother because she was schizophrenic and was bringing "reproach on Jehovah's org". I had to talk the elders into not doing that and then they asked me what action they should take.. Which was amazing to me as they were supposed to be directed by God's spirit. Why would they need my advice?? It became more and more tedious to me and my husband trying to live up to the Society's directives of how their "followers" should act..We didn't want to raise our children in a cult like way of life.It wasn't until years later( after we officially disassociated ourselves) when I found this site that I really became aware of the many false teachings of the org and the manipulations of the governing body.

Live shunning incident #2
by sass_my_frass intoday, on a lunch date with my beloved, a young jw couple i vaguely knew walked in and were seated right next to us, just as he saw me so there was no going back.
now there are a few schools of thought re what to do when being shunned; get their attention and chat politely; keep it going for a while until they feel awkward; shun them back... i haven't picked an angle yet.
anyway i saw him in time to pretend that i'd not noticed that it was them, and was just ignoring the strangers sitting next to us in the busy cafe.

I had a similar experience in a restaurant where I was going to have lunch.. As I walked to my table I had to go right by a table occupied by my very closest JW friend(when I was in the borg) her husband and her sister. All who I have known since I was a child. I stopped briefly to just say "hello, Im just here on my lunch break" (didn't know what else to say) They all smiled weakly at me while looking thru me like I was dead space and then they continued on with their conversation. I found this amusing as the one sister had been disassociated for a while and I would still go and visit her and her baby(her boyfriend was in prison when the baby was born) because her sister(the exbestfriend at the table with her) wanted me to go visit with her.
Anyways. just made me realize how silly and foolish and hypocritical the whole bogus religion makes people become..Also made me really realize how happy I was that I was out of that way of life..

I loved the finale show.. It was so fun with all the guest celebrities.. and the bit with Clay Aiken and the Clay Aiken wannabee was hilarious..For me ..Taylor was the winner.. He showed good spirit when he took Kat's hand and had everyone cheer for her..The part that played where Simon was against putting Taylor thru and Paula and Randy wanted him was priceless..I look forward to hearing more from Taylor.. but I am sure that Chris and Kat and Elliot will have their own amazing careers as well... Lisa I am so jealous that you got to see the dress rehearsall..LOL..It would have been so much fun!!!!

Hi Lady Lee.. those numbers sound great to me.. I thought Taylor really won the competition with his last song. It was a mediocre song like the last one that Kat had to sing..but he sang it with such soul and feeling..the lame song really sounded great.I know a lot of people wanted Chris to win.. but I think Taylor is really the one who is the entertainer and also can sing.

Say something horrible.............but true about your kids ..............
by vitty inalthough, the complaints may be valid and sad.
many posters here have vented about their wicked parents.. i think its time we parents have a post dedicated to saying something horrid about our kids.
it maybe something you have wanted to say about them that was in the past or happening now.

From when my daughter turned 13, she changed from a sweet little girl into someone I didn't recongnize.. She was hard to talk to... she was depressed a lot,,had some problems in high school.. she wouldn't clean her room or help out around the house.. Now she is 19 and living out on her own ,going to college.. I go to her apartment and she proudly shows me how tidy her room is. and her bed is made.. She takes pride in keeping her bathroom clean and the dishes are always done..I think is this the same daughter that was turning my hair slowly grey for 6 years?? Living on her own and looking after herself has changed her alot..She is a person I enjoy to be around now.. Kids do go thru phases and their own rough patches growing up..Sometimes we just need patience.. along with as much guidance as they will accept from parents..
