his favourite was when a brother announced.
"the new magazines are in brothers and sisters.
At one Watchtower study in our Hall the elder conducting the study had a hard time remembering people's names. He was forever having to give the mike handlers descriptions so they could find the person he wanted to answer. One Sunday he said, "the sister over there, ...uh, um, (insert lots of stutterings)... MY WIFE!" Everybody laughed.

At a small KH in a remote area that we were visiting. The one and only MS was assigned the announcements part at the Service Meeting. This is how it went: Stomp, Stomp, Stomp from the back of the Hall to the podium .... "There are no announcements" ..... Stomp, Stomp, Stomp to the back of the Hall.

Are there any service clubs where meals are cooked and served? My mother cooks for a club here in town, they have monthly meals to raise funds. Different members help out in the kitchen. Some of the members are quite elderly and can't do that much, but they help and get to socialize at the same time.
Or how about helping a caterer? Before we moved we had a friend who loved to cook. She liked to volunteer to help me put together a meal when we were having company. I miss her for more reasons than her cooking, she was a wonderful person.
I think it's wonderful that you have dreams. Don't give up on them even if they seem unlikely. You just never know what life has in store.

I probably don't have any helpful advice to give you. It sounds like you've had a rough go of it.
If you don't mind me asking, what is your disability? I would hate to have someone offer up advice that you can't do. It wouldn't help your depression or self-esteem any. Do you have any forms of self-expression? Art, music, etc. ? Getting involved with things in the community is the best way to meet good people and get connected. IMO Wanting to have nice things and live comfortably is not materialistic. As far as making friends, be interested in other people without being intrusive. Don't worry about the "in" crowd. They're usually not the nicest or most interesting of people. I'm very carefully "faded", so I'm reluctant to post any of my personal life story here. But I hope someone else comes along that has a little more insight than I do.

so, every thursday morning, my congregation does phone witnessing from about 9:30 til noon.
its actually quite enjoyable, sitting around a table, drinking coffee, eating doughnuts, and laughing.. well, when a "householder" isn't home, a message is left including the phone number to the kingdom hall.
often, people call back, either irate, or inquisitive.. so, i was thinking,.

when someone makes a donation to the wts for a specific cause, i.e.
hurricane katrina relief, and uses a traceable source such as a check, will the wts cash it in?
what legal obligation do they have to use it for that cause?
In some countries they have to use it for the designated purpose. In other countries they don't have any accountability. Which countries are which, I don't know.
