why the paranoia?
it is a long story in which only the jw i know and is an administrator for our computers would even know i was at this semi-religious site.

Hello everybody
by iamfreenow ini am marion, a friend of fullofdoubtnow (linda), and i have just disassociated from jehovahs witnesses.
i was only announced a couple of days ago, after a lifetime of association.
linda has posted about me before, but it's wonderful to be able to post in my own right, and i am really looking forward to getting to know you all.. i am 59 years of age, 60 in november, and have been a jw all my life, baptised since 1961, and i thought i would always be a witness, but i now know absolutely that it isn't the truth.

I AM SUCH A KLUTZ! Hello!
by Geronimo ini've been lurking here and reading for a couple of months now.
i was also a jw for a few years but got myself dfed when i started asking difficult questions, wouldn't stop asking them, and kept pointing out how the wts didn't make any sense.
i am an unrepentent rebellious one who was warned and publically reproved until finally i finally had it out with the elders and they showed me the door.

Welcome to the board, Geronimo.
Actually, the Jews had many Lords. Sarah supposedly called Abraham "lord". But that doesn't mean she thought he was god. And, the Isaiah quote is a pissing match between Baal and the Hebrew God. If Jesus was God's plan to save mankind, then that is salvation through God. It doesn't mean they're the same person.
I went round and round with more than one person in the field service on those points. LOL Whatever, I'm glad it freed your mind from the WTS.

my story
by jaberwalkie inthis is a difficult thing for me to do, i used to be a jehovahs witness 20 years service as a pioneer.. last thursday it was announced from the platform at my local kingdom hall that i was disfellowshiped.. it was a bit of a shock.
i still have a deep sence of anger at what happened to me and its so unfair.. it started 3 years ago when i began to feel ill and i missed a couple of meetings.
the elders were wonderful and came round and cheered me up.

Welcome to the board. No, you did nothing wrong and have no need to seek forgiveness. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a hard time. (((((Hugs)))))
Don't worry about your spelling.

Remember when KH's had a piano and real singing?
by WingCommander inthe thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.
they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.
there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.

Blondies experience is in line with the situation here also. Although I haven't myself actually attended any of the area churches, we've been offered jobs playing for a few of them. They didn't care what denomination we were as long as we were willing to play (some for money, some for free). Wasn't keen on getting up early Sunday morning and playing for any of them.

When my husband was growing up (60's) there was a couple who played. The wife played the piano and the husband played violin. The piano was always in tune because this "brother" was also a piano tuner. One of the older sisters in the congregation was musically skilled and sang harmony. There were two sisters who acted as back up pianists.
One small neighbouring congregation that we sometimes attended (to help out because their attendance was low), didn't have live musicians but they sure did sing with gusto. (early 80's) Unfortunately, not one of them could sing in tune and they were all out of time with each other. They completely drowned out the old mono record player that they had.
We were really dismayed when they finally got rid of all live music. The last time we got to enjoy hearing musicians playing at a meeting (1986) it was a husband and wife team. She played the piano and he played the bassoon. Very enjoyable.
