I'm very much looking forward to hearing the rest of your story. My husband had one of them there "step-monsters".

My story: "Pop!" goes the Little Circuit Breaker
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land ini guess it's about time i write my story.
i've put this off for a long time... primarily becuase, while i thought my story was bad, i've read so many worse and heart-rending stories here.
i think, though, there is some therapeutic value in 'letting it all out' with others who know what 'it' was like.

Let JWD find the true number of partakers!
by cultswatter ini've heard stories that most congregations have no partakers at all.
if there are approx 9000 partakers in 90,000 congregations then 81,000 congregations don't have partakers.
i just don't believe that - how bout you??

How is this going to work? We've been out for more than 15 years. We knew of 13 different partakers. In the 5 halls we've attended there were 5. Two of the congregations we attended didn't have any.
Some of those we knew would now be dead and others have parted ways with the WTS. Of the 13, there are 3 that we know are still attending. Of the five that were associated with the halls we attended, only one remains an active JW. And she's moved away to a different congregation and could very well show up in someone else's report.

Ok, so clearly, I can't keep my big, fat stinkin mouth shut even though...
by cognac ini've been warned.
i keep saying little things to my husband, and he clearly won't budge any more then he already has.
i just want him to see the truth.

And, welcome to JWD.

What does your first name mean? Does it say who you are?
by restrangled ini am ripping off a topic from someone else.

WHICH TRANSLATION WAS LEFT IN A TRANSLATORS WILL TO THE WT?
by badboy inthis happpened about 1870.

I thought it was Byington too. They own the copyright to his translation, "The Bible in Living English".
They printed the "Emphatic Diaglott" by Benjamin Wilson also. But it doesn't look as if they own the copyright. At least, there isn't a copyright printed in it.

Vote for your favorite "celebrated JW scholar"!!
by onacruse innow, there are so many from which to choose...where is one to start?.
well, since i'm an old-timer, i must by default cast my vote for clayton j. woodworth, that inspired author and editor of the golden age who single-handedly warned the world about the dangers of aluminum cookware and vaccinations, among so many other things.. only once in a generation comes along a man with such inspired insights as to baffle the minds of mere ordinary humans..

My absolute favourite is F.F. He was a true "master of ambiguity". Not to mention a very fertile imagination.

I have a theory. Please take my poll!
by changeling ini'd like you all to tell me 2 or 3 things:.
1- were you raised a witness or not?.
2-if you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?.
