They just can't seem to understand that saying, "let sleeping dogs lie". We avoid talking JW things in the community because we're "faded". But like you, if they came after us, the gloves would come off.
Bravo to you.

when my former congregation did a quickbuild in october, i worked with a reporter at a sister paper, a hard news daily, on an article that dealt with jws - including a fair amount of not-so-flattering background - pedophile issues, the effect of the net on the witnesses, etc.
i thought the reporter was really even-handed.. i posted about it here on jwd under this topic: newspaper article on jws today - write the paper - please!!.
while i had hoped for a little harder edge to the piece, i talked with my ex-wife a few minutes ago, and found out that she and the congregation were really upset about the article.

sorry...there are just so many threads related to the "big news", reaction to the big news, and lastly reaction to the reaction to the big news...just couldn't help myself.. how about some fluff...just for a few minutes.
fluff can be good.. so, whatcha all doing today?
xmas shopping?
GGG, that's not appropriate for this thread. If your JW husband did that it's not quite "small" news.
My small news is that we just played our last "gig" for the year.

has anyone here read demon haunted world by carl sagan?
what a great book.
he lays out the requirements for using critical thinking, and then debunks a bunch of bs - like ufos, esp, etc.
I enjoyed the book. I think I would've enjoyed it more if I would've read it a number of years ago. He was preaching to the choir most of the time.
I found his continual preaching on how noble scientists are a bit tiresome. In my opinion they aren't any more noble than the rest of mankind. But then, my opinion isn't necessarily correct. It's just my opinion.

i haven't been on here in a few days, or if i did get on it was only for a few minutes.
the last few days i have felt strangely at peace, with life, with my children, and with me.
im wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that i just lost my mother in law.
Hi Confused.
I'm sorry about your loss, but I'm glad you've found internal peace. It's a precious thing.
((((Hugs))))

for those outside nyc that stands for down under the manhattan bridge overpass.
it's an up and coming area in which the society pulled building permits for 4 twenty story residence buildings with a connecting atrium and underground parking.
the permits were pulled last year about this time (much to the annoyance of the locals) and when inquiries were made of local bethelites the word on the street became "the governing body hasn't decided whether or not to go through with the project.
Hi. Welcome to the board.
It's hush hush because they like to work in the darkness. It's in the nature of the beast.

so in reading various posts, it's apparent that there are quite a few musicians who post on this board.
here's my idea, anyone interested in recording a track or two, and then sending it as a wav file to some of the others, who could then add there own tracks and send it back?
it could go from one person to the next, to the next, etc., or it could go out to a bunch of people to see the variety of creative responses to the same original track.
This thread has been buried by the "big news". It took me awhile to find it. lol
No, I don't play professionally. It's supposed to be my hobby. You play enough instruments to do most of the track yourself!

amazing grace!
how sweet the sound.
that saved a wretch like me!.
Amazing Grace was some sort of JW urban legend, 90 something years old and still pioneering.
By the way, I used to like that song alot. However, I've been forced to play it so many times that I'm rather ambivalent about it right now.

Do you play an instrument yourself?

if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
have i ever misled you?
i'll answer that--no!
We just went and stocked up on wine today. In anticipation of celebrating. I hope it's something that I can use as an excuse to phone up old JW friends.

you know what the holy grail is?.
holy grail?.
yeah, i know that one.. that was like jesus' juice glass.. .
I don't like being cast on the God/Saint side of things. It's demeaning.
