  Carl Sagan had a chapter in one of his books dealing with this subject. There was an experiment with people done. The conclusion was that; the people who where initially nice, then consistently punished and forgave the selfish (and punished again if they didn't learn), were the ones who came out the winners in the end. I don't own the book, so I can't quote from it.

  Lots of Bethelites Not Happy With Downsizing

  i had a long conversation last night with an old jw friend whose sister and brother-in-law are bethelites since the 1970s.

  she is an artist, and he runs a small but important department there.. we were talking about the bethel downsizing (my friend was well aware of it), and i told him i figured his sister and b-i-l would be safe due to the fact that they are now in their 60s and have something close to 4 decades seniority.

  but he said no, that they were worried that they would be asked to leave as well, sent into the circuit work or as special pioneers sent where the "need is great.".

  ok, i wasn't really sure who ted jaracz was so i looked his name up on google.

  boy, all i got was accusations against him for child molestation.

  all i got to say is that person who brought the suit against him is doing a heck of a job getting the word out.

  Yes, Ted Jaracz is a member of the Governing Body and claims to be "anointed". Fred Franz is dead. Raymond Franz was removed from the Governing Body and then wrongfully disfellowshipped.

  On a personal note: My company recently hired and thereafter let go one of these ex-bethelites. He came with a letter of recomendation from bethel and resume that looked great, but he had no concept of how the real world worked, and was almost completely worthless for all the things his resume said he was an expert on. When we discussed his performance two weeks before he was let go, he started praying to Jehovah to be able to keep his job, in a LOUD voice I might add. He is a nice guy dont get me wrong, but that is just not how you act at work, nor is it fair to me the employer and fellow JW. Now most of our employees are JW's, but I wonder at where this behaviour comes from. I have known several brother who went back for a year and are quite normal, but those that spend a long time at bethel seem to get so disconnected, the only people they can work for are witnesses, and even then they are a little odd. Just my observations
