I always wondered if not to accept blood is so important for a Christian that he/she should rather give up his/her life, why is it that the New Testament only mentions this restriction at Acts 15:29. This verse also says "GOOD HEALTH TO YOU"
If I am correct doctors use blood transfusion only when they feel that someone's life is in danger. They use blood to save life! (They use herbs and vitamins to improve health) If someone looses his/her life how is this verse (good health to you) apply to them.
A JW may say that it is applied after the resurrection, but it makes no sense since everybody will have perfect health in Paradise.
Jesus did put lot's of emphasis on not to get involved with making lot's of money. In my congregation about half of the elders owned businesses and were very rich. They frequently gave psychologically abusive Be more… Do more talks. Could you pioneer? Jehovah is not happy with token service. Are you sure you are giving him your best? Etc.
These guys where in the best position in the whole congregation to pioneer. They had so much money if Armageddon wouldn't come till 2025 they would easily survived on their savings. (Armageddon was always just around the corner) Yet they never pioneered themselves. The New Testament is full of warnings against living for the riches. This hypocrisy seemed not to be a problem for the Circuit Overseer.
The Bible also says that liars will not inherit God's Kingdom. Many Christians lie time to time under pressure. (I am not talking about theocratic warfare here) They don't have to go to the Elders to seek help unless it becomes habitual. They just say it in prayer that they are sorry and go on with their life.
Why can't someone do this with the blood transfusion? There is no bigger pressure than loosing your life!

and we are here this morning to bring you some "good news.
This very subject was one of my stumbling blocks as a JW.
Just think about it. They go from door to door telling people that
99.9% of the world's population will be slaughtered at Armageddon by a loving, understanding and forgiving God.
Gospel means Good News. The Watchtower's message is NOT good news. It is terrible news! The world will be destroyed and you have only 0.1% chance to survive.
The Bible says in Genesis that every creation of God was good.
(There was no design flaw.)
What would you think if only 1 car would pass the quality control out of every 1000 coming off Ford's assembly line? Good engineering? No way!

Hypocrite means: A person who pretends to be what he is not. A person whose actions are out of harmony with his words! (Like the Elders) See Insight on the Scriptures Volume I. page 1164.
I can't recall reading from the Bible that Jesus had serious problems with those who lost their faith! He was very upset with the hypocrites (Those who pretended to be God's representatives.)
I prefer to trust the translation of those who where recognized as language scholars. Those who had the proven knowledge of Latin, Greek or Hebrew. Those who had the courage and confidence to write their names in the Bible.
I reject the Watchtower's reasoning that their translators left their name out because of modesty. Yeah Right! I think they were affraid to take responsibility for their work. They claim it was the Holly Spirit who helped them. What about the Finished Mistery book? It is full of unfulfilled prophesies and long abandoned teachings.
Who helped them to write that one? The Holly Spirit? No Way! God would never inspire people to write false things and dissfellowship those who don't believe it. Was that spiritual food for that time? Hardly if it is so inaccurate. In those years leading to 1919 the Watchtower was probably the most active False Prophet!
Why would God choose them to be his spokesman?
If it was OK for Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and the rest of the Bible writers to identify themselves, why would it be wrong for the translators to do the same? I think if the translator is not afraid to take responsibility for his work, it increases the confidence of the reader!
