my daughter was abused by an ex min servant age 13 , she is now 22 and has been with her loving caring boyfriend for a year (he is her 1st boyfriend ) over the years she has been bulimic ,self harmed and suffered low self esteem , i thought she had got better since the relationship with her boyfriend started , i found out yesterday that she is no better at all and im frightened for her , her boyfriend said "that bastard haunts her" she suffers flashbacks and post traumatis stress disorder , due to the horrific things the abuser did and said to her , which i cant bare to go into detail about as i try to block it out my mind , unfortunatly my poor girl cannot !
she has had a lot of help by a psyciatrist , counsellor etc but is no better so what can i do to help ?

Did any of his victims ever come forward?
He served in and out of the US; you KNOW there have to be 100s, if not 1000s of victims...

sweep of polygamists' kids raises legal questions.
email this story.
I attended the hearing.
I represent (by the state's order) two of the 'children w/ children'.
There was evidence of abuse presented.
ok, something has been bugging me recently, so please forgive meas i play devil's advocate for a moment.
child abuse of any type is horrific, and when it is sexual innature it can cause unimaginably cruel and life-long damage.i think we can all agree on that.
however, in the past irreparable damage to people's lives havealso been caused by accusations of child abuse that turnedout to be baseless... families are torn apart, trust is shredded, reputations ruined, all because a child misunderstood something, or fabricated a story to get attention, or was pressured by paranoid and possibly abused adults into remembering things that never happened.
Statitically, sexual abuse of children is far under-reported. Conservative studies say 66% of abuse survivors do not report til adulthood, if ever.
I'm not saying false allegations NEVER occur, but false allegations are uncommon. Far MORE common are situations where a child, whose world has been turned upside down, recants, not because it didn't happen, but because he/she is pressured by family members, or is trying to restore any sort of 'normalcy' to the situation.
As an attorney handling these sorts of cases (and nothing else), I find even the extent or frequency of the molest is minimized by victims during criminal prosecutions, due to shame, embarrassment, fear etc.
In the cases we've handled in a Jehovah's Witness context, there were multiple reports in prior congregations of molestation BY THE SAME PERP, which were minimized or un-reported.

all boe have just got a letter telling them to encourage all parents to be more on guard with their children.
suggestions such as not letting your young children go to the toilet on their own, not working with older men on their own and not leaving children in the car on rv's and calls un attended.
the letter basically instructed the elders to remind all family heads that its their responsibility to protect their children whilst at and away from the hall etc.

The WatchTower comes crashing into the '70's.......
every year we grow more and more dependent on the internet.
but would you know what to do if your connection suddenly went down?
no one knows when the internet will fail.
Me? Go outside and take a walk...... sounds good.
i used to be here a real lot.
now i make about 15 posts , if that,.
per day and read a few other threads that interest me.

My personal favorite is a WT article titled
"The evils of independent thinking".
i've finished writing my novel (50 thousand words) about my years spent in federal correctional prison when i was an obedient little jw.. the editing and rewriting stage now commences.. i need your help!.
here is how you can help me.. i can't know what an outside mind wants to find out concerning this experience.
i can only conjure up what seems interesting to me.. tell me what you want to know about such a personal experience.. that will give me a checklist to compare to what i've written already.. i may have missed many little details which are very important to a reader.. i may have neglected essential questions which must be answered in order to satisfy the mind.. please offer me your curiousity.. thanking you in advance; i appreciate your taking the time to advance my novel to the finish line.. (i wrote it as a fictional work because i could not honestly write about myself without the distance of this device.. so, i made myself into a character with a different name.. the identity of everyone else is non-fiction.
Terry-
The legal process that got you there, and the attitude/demeanor of those inforcing the process, are of interest to me. (Perhaps as a lawyer, mainly.)
Are you writing the book aimed at ex-JWs, non-JW, current JWs or all of afore-mentioned?
If aimed at non-JWs, you'll need to do a lot of explaining of the basic mindset etc of average (or rabid) JW. Otherwise, the non-JWs will be lost (and uninterested).
I've never been JW.
In the course in interviewing literally thousands of JW and ex-JW fact witnesses and abuse survivors, I got a "JW education". I have found that many ex-JWs have a hard time explaining their JW experience in terms that others can grasp or process adequately.
Before you 'go to print', I'd consider having an 'other' read/edit the entire work for readability as to non-JWs, if that's one of your audiences.
I am a fellow Fort Worthian, so references to my 'home turf' and courthouse are interesting to ME.. :)
