First question: Why are JW's ridiculed so much?
by 2good2bad indo you ever wonder why jw's are the most ridiculed?
they are made fun of more than any other religion.
it makes me think about jesus and how he was persecuted and ridiculed for being righteous.

I just wanted to comment on your statement about trolls. You said: "Why do people on this board seem to think people would go through such extremes as to "troll" a board or change messages I don't know for maybe fear or whatever?"
By their very nature trolls come on to a board to cause trouble, to stir up the members of the board to create friction. Why they do it, I really don't know...some people get off on doing it, some may feel it's a control or power thing. Those are just guesses. Anyway, I'm not saying that you're a troll (I don't even know you...), but trolls are a part of message boards and people who frequent message boards know it. So people on this board are completely justified in their belief of trolls.
Now the belief that you're a troll, may be right or wrong. Time will tell. :D

Second question: If you weren't roped into this religion by your parents...
by 2good2bad inwould you have chosen this faith on your own?
is it too hard to live righteously?
do you really bel i eve it's a cult?

That's kind of a subjective question...how can someone answer what their life experience would have been had their life been different? Looking back with years of experience, it's easy to say "No, I'd have seen through it.", but it's almost impossible to say one way or another with any surety.
If several events hadn't combined in my life to make me vulnerable to this cult, I wouldn't have been in it. If several events hadn't combined in my life to open my eyes to this cult, I'd still be in it.
Just the way it is. Live and learn. Hopefully while you still have years of life to enjoy.

Actually they're not ridiculed as much as other religions. If you look at the pages of the WT, there is much ridiculing of religions other than JWs throughout.
And as for persecution and the tie in to being God's chosen, I think the Jewish people have had way more persecution. But then it makes sense, since the Bible is 'their' story.
As for doing my own thinking, yes I am. But from the sound of your post, you're not. It's a shame, really.

If the Watchtower kept you out of college, here is a quick way back in:
by gitasatsangha ini know a lot of folks are like me and probably had to get their education mostly from experience due to the watchtower's stand on education.
i wanted to share some things i found which were helpful to me, and might also be to others thinking of going back.
this all refers to distance education, as i travel a great deal and don't have time to go to a regular college.. excelsior college (run by the new york board of regents), has a special system set up where you can "credit bank" previous experience, credits taken from other colleges, corporate training, etc towards a degree.

The one I'm registered with (Distance Education) is British Columbia Open University. www.bcou.ca
The offer Bachelor's and higher degrees, all by distance education (online or by phone). The work in conjunction with some of the prominent universities in the province (University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University).

Would you ever shun?
by ozziepost ini was asked that question today, or words just like it, is it ever right for a christian to shun?.

I have removed individuals from my life for a variety of reasons, mostly because the relationship was toxic to me. I do not 'hate' these ones, nor would I actively try to hurt them, I simply do not want them in my life.
As for shunning JWs, I choose to leave the hurtful ones out of my life. The ones who have acted as my friends, as well as my family, are always welcome in my home and my life, if they so choose. They don't, and I have to respect that decision, even if I don't agree with it or the reason behind why they choose to do it (allegiance to the WTS).

by Razor ini notice a lot of anti-jehovah's witenesses post here so i will speak my peace.

Um, pardon me but you don't have a clue what you're talking about. I wasn't disfellowshipped, nor did I do anything wrong, except not want to be abused by JWs anymore. I left. And now my sister won't talk to me. I'm not worshipping anything else, nor involved in drugs, etc.
I'm here because I got treated like crap. Pure and simple. And you don't know the first thing about me or anyone else on this board, so you might just want to STFU.
Oh, and if you're SUCH a good little JW you shouldn't be anywhere near this site. How about you post your real name so the WTS lurkers (because they are monitoring this site) can find you so your elders can learn about how you are wandering around apostates. Hmmm? Think that would go over well?

I wasn't going to bother commenting, since everyone here is so eloquent. But I'm a bit of a grammar and spelling FIEND, so decided to take the opportunity to point out the other spelling mistake made by the one denouncing others' grammar.
See if you can guess which word was misspelled that I've highlighted. ;)
