Hmm.. if I was to remove one Bible book, would have to be Revelation. And I would replace it with a book explaining everything in laymens terms... so people don't run around for 20 centuries saying "The end is nigh!", and instead realize it's all been and gone.

i'd vote for revelation since every nutcase who ever came down the pike has tackled it verse for verse and applied it to the time in which he was living.

Yup... Revelation by far... Then again, a few books in the OT could have been nicely done away with some time ago, as they are the ones that in general make it sound OK for us to kill people who don't serve God in the way that we think he should be worshipped.

the following i wrote to a friend this morning and doctored slightly for this forum.
can any of you relate to this kind of mystical experience and if you would be kind enough, would you mind me quoting any experiences listed to my friend?
please be aware that the letter uses language to detach me away from the watchtower (thus church, instead of congregation etc).

Proof of something supernatural... hmmm...
How about this: Recently I visited a friend down in Devon. I had only been there once before, and had pretty much kept myself to myself.
Well, I attended a Spiritualist church there, and the clairvoyant (whom I had never met in my life, as I lived in Manchester my whole life, I didnt even speak to him before the service started) got a message for me whilst on the platform. He said it is my grandad, who died when I was one year old. He described my grandad to a tee, mannerisms and all. How he was sick towards the end but refused help, and how I take on that personality trait. He said how he was in the military. He also said that my grandad is proud of me taking on the fatherly role (I married and became a stepdad 3 years ago), but I need to show more patience. My wife is always, always telling me the same thing, as do other people. As he was saying goodbye to "my grandad"... he got something else. He asked if he had owned 2 dogs, big ones, about waist height. I replied that I did not think so, at least not to my knowledge. He said, "well keep it in mind, and let your family know that the dogs are with him if you find anything out."
3 days later, I asked my mother when I got back to Manchester if grandad had ever had two dogs. This was true, he had a boxer and an alsatian, both known in the neighborhood for their size.
Now... this was a very faith-affirming event for me. There is no way the man could have known this information unless he lived near my grandfather and knew him well. And even if he did, he surely did not know me. He didn't know my name, and can't have recognized me from however long ago it was that he knew my grandfather, I have changed a lot, (when my parents saw me for the first time in three years when I went back to visit them, they didn't even recognize me for a moment).
Tear this experience apart if you wish, or just take it for what it is... a beautiful event which made me feel good, and gave me the impression that my grandfather is watching over me and is proud of what I am doing with my life.

i am seeking advice here.
as some of you know i have been fading since december 03. during that time i have had about 3 letters of encouragement from family friends to come back, and messages of how lovely my children are (what they are really saying is 'why am i being an evil mother and not bringing them to the meetings!!!!

Chok... sit back, relax. A couple of things to remember are:
You are not in the wrong! I guess it is the same process in your mind as when a you are driving and see a cop car. You instantly feel guilty, even though you know you have done nothing wrong.
If they do come over, just invite them in for a cup of tea, chat with them, chew the fat, then when they really start bugging you to come back, just tell them you need to think things over. If they persist, kick them out.
Keep in mind that they are the spiritually ill ones, not you.
Forgive them their sins, for they know not what they do. hehe... sometimes I regret telling them outright that I am an apostate, I'd love a good challenging chat with a witness over a nice hot cuppa these days. lol

Actually yes, possession still happens in this day and age, though we often don't hear of it. This is probably because if a newspaper were to report a demonic possession these days, they would probably be called crazy etc.
The Catholic church has their own dedicated exorcist, Father Gabriel Amorth, and he apparently claims to be quite busy. And yes, doctors and psychiatrists do still refer people to have exorcisms, when it is quite clear that the problem is not a physical or mental one, per se.
I can't find it right now, but there is a great interview out there somewhere with Fr. Amorth, very interesting. He actually seems like a pretty nice guy, normal even.
