you go from one set of fears to another set of fears.
i used to be terrified of armageddon when i was a jw and just knew i was going to get hit by a lightning bolt from jehovah on that day.

I did such a double take when I clicked on your topic and saw your face - you are a dead ringer for the only worldly boyfriend I ever got up enough nerve to introduce to my parents by way of taking him to the Sunday meeting 30 years ago. Same full beard, hair - minus the extra cloth but....I think he had plaid pants on and reeked of pot. BTW: Is that odor one of the SEVEN PERFUMES OF THE BIBLE I keep seeing on here?

The quote I saw today from the Prime Minister of Austrailia, John Howard, struck me:
"This is appalling. When I saw the report about this I felt sick literally." Howard told an Austrailian radio network Friday: " The idea that a person could be punished because of their religious belief and the idea they might be executed is just beyond belief".
Apparently he's not familiar with the JW population of his country and the punishment meted out to them when they have a change of belief. DF'ing, shunning, loss of family and entire social network - a death sentence often. Perhaps this will spark some discussion in Austrailia too.

She offers the same song and dance that they all do , who have the blindfold on. How she wants you to see HER way, but readily dismisses YOUR way.
She worries for the example you are setting for your daughter. - Loving your daughter so much, you have made the wisest decision ever - to step out of the box. You have opened the possibility for a world of exploration to your daughter, and together you will traverse it in wonder, something you cannot do when trapped inside.
One of the biggest reasons for my having walked away three years ago now, was, that I never wanted to find myself writing such a letter to my sons.
I will think positively on your behalf that your mom will one day realize we all have the right to go our own way.

North County - A former North County resident has made the national 15 Most Wanted list of the U.S. Marshals Service for alleged sexual assaults on children. One victim, now an adult, was assaulted more than 100 times from ages 5 to 12 by Frederick Cecil McClean, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Tom Maranda of the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force, which is led by the Marshals Service. "He preferred his victims to be between 6 years old and age 12", Maranda said Monday. Some of the known victims did not come forward until they were adults, he said. Authorities believe McLean, 55, may have assaulted girls and boys over about 20 years as he moved through San Diego and Riverside Counties, stopping in Oceanside, Vista, Rainbow, Temecula, Wildomar, and Winchester, Maranda said.
"We believe that he molested kids in all those places," he said. He said McLean's last known location was Hemet. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information directly leading to the arrest of McLean, an auto mechanic who specialized in restoring vintage race cars. "He would make friends with other people, families, and that would allow him access to children," the deputy marshal said. "He's smart, he's got a lot of money and he's got a plan." A warrant for McLean's arrest was issued Jan. 20, 2005, in San Diego County. However, authorities believe he knew about six months before then that he was in trouble.
Family members confronted McLean in May 2004 about a girl's allegations that she had been molested by him, according to Maranda, who said McLean admitted to the family and sheriff's deputies that the allegations were true. McLean was trying to get a gun before he disappeared, Maranda said, so he is considered armed, dangerous, and possibly suicidal.
The suspect is also an experienced woodsman who may frequent camping areas, authorities said. "The guy's a master manipulator", Maranda said. "He's using the cover story that he's going through a bad divorce. He won't sign leases, claims his wife made up the charges."
McLean, who uses aliases, is 5 foot 11 inches tall and 170 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair. Anyone who knows his whereabouts can call the marshal's 24-hour line at (800)336-0102. 4JWY -

This was the top story on the Fox News report tonight and other San Diego News Channels.
For the first time it was clearly stated that this "diabolical, dangerous man" was a member of several Jehovah's Witnesses congregations in the Southern California area and that his victims were found within "the church".
