  Are JW's generally better than average people?

  i for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

  The friends I had in high school were much better people than the dub kids that surrounded me. Amd my "worldly" family members have intact first marriages, kids that grew to be

  good people. Much better example of what christians should be than my dub family. I think it is something about the JW religion that makes you less then honest. I always

  thought it may be the legalism. As long as there is a loop hole in the law, they exploit it, reasoing that it's legal, though not necessarilty moral. They are devoid of spirituality,

  since feild service time and meeting attendance is what substitutes for love, kindness, and compassion.

  "Faithful and Discreet Slave?" just how did the WTS come to the conclusion

  when i looked at the scripture that the "title" faithful and discreet slave is taken from, am i wrong or is it just part of a parable about the the wise slaves ?

  is there really any "further" fulfillment of the story, or is it just a parable?.

  is the wts just embellishing a story and assigning themselves a leadership role based on nothing at all?

  It was simply a parable used by Jesus to drive home the point that every follower of his would be accountable for his actions, just like any slave of their day would

  be accountable to his master for his actions. It wasn't the first or last parable he would use involving slaves or the teaching of personal accountability. The WTS used to teach

  that CT Russell was the "faithful servant." Lokk aroung the site. There are many threads on this topic.

  These guys are shameful. I am ashamed I ever supported them.

  you kind of get to a point where you know all the answers when you are a jw.

  you don't really have to research much more because its the same stuff they present over and over again.

  "jehovah's reminders" but i kind of looked forward to new light.

  If "My Book Of Bible Stories" was a movie, what would it be rated?

  discussing movies at work this week, someone mentioned "sin city", a very violent film about honest cops, corrupt cops, and criminals.

  in this film, justice is administered harshly, and sometimes cruelly.

  however, the film also shows really evil people receiving "just desserts".

  I use the Jehu v. Jezebel story against anyone who tells me a movie is too voilent, etc.... I am not for gratuitous voilence, but most films do not

  even come close to the voilence of Jehu. Not only did he have her thrown out the window, HE STEPS OVER HER DEAD BODY, HE GOES INTO HER HOUSE AND HAS LUNCH!!!,

  AND ONLY THEN REMEMBERS SHE SHOULD BE BURIED BECAUSE SHE WAS A ROYAL, BUT THE DOGS ATE HER.!!!! The whole OT is nothing more than

  voilence and sex, rape, incest, intrigue, murder as a tool of policy, etc..... Nothing in it is suitable for children.

  I would rate the book NC-17 if I were on the MPAA.

  Organization", contains a section on Ceaser's Laws and their relationship to "God's" people. One fascinating gem, which was a revelation at the time to me,

  was the fact that if the law of the land called for segregation by class or race of people, the Society would conform. This means that if Jim Crow or Apartheid was

  the law in the USA, blacks and whites and hispanics would be segregated into different congregations based on their race. Technically, that would mean Sam Herd couldn't

  live in the same digs as the other GB or be in a congo with his white GB brethren. This was shocking to many there. The WTS would disregard principle for expediency. Gasp!

  This particular unit of study was presided over by Charles Jackson, a District Overseer, who is himself black.

  The prodical son-Who do the Witness resemble?

  funny now that i read the bible without any man made ideas, this thought hit me in luke 15:20-24, remember this is one of the basis for "reinstatement" into the "christian congregation".

  is the year basis of coming back after attending weekly meetings really neccassary?

  also note that paul most likely written both 1st and 2nd corithians within a year span.
