whole Earth! And only 37! Can you just imagine."
At that moment, no I couldn't.

with mary's review of the april 1 wt study article and this weeks public talk by the circuit overseer on obeying the channel of communication that jehovah has provided through means of the faithful and discreet slave, things are really hotting up.. the co practically shouted that we had to obey jesus' representatives to gain salvation.
this repetitive mantra of obey the channel, obey god's representatives, obey the faithful and discreet slave is really scary.. they have already replaced jesus as their old testament priesthood takes over, they have sidelined all non-anointed as "companions" of jesus, what more do they want?.
this is getting increasingly like what daniel and his three companions had to face - worship the golden image or die.. is it me or has the drumbeat of obeying the faithful slave taken on a decidedly louder beat?.
I've said it before, the "OBEY US OR DIE" line is becoming shrill and more and more people are taking note of how shrill it is. People
are waking up, I know, I am one of them. Look at all the ex-JW's here and other boards, all the former elders, Bethelites, CO's, right here!
They can beat the drum all they want. It won't save them.
hello chumz on the board.
nothing really to do with jwism but who prefers the american 'bourbon' type such as 'wild turkey', 'jim beam' etc or who prefers a fine single malt scotch such as 'glenfiddich' or 'glenmorangie'?
i am not trying to stir up nationalism with this question but am just genuinely curious.. lfcv.
Canadian Whiskey for me. Crown when I want it on the rocks or straight, Seven when I mix it with ginger ale or 7UP.
who really killed goliath?
before answering "david, of course" look at 2 samuel 21:19.
A copyist's error? In the Bible? Surely the Bible is FREE from error of any sort, isn't it?
if jeseus is only the mediater for the 144,000, and wts now says the 'system' may outlast the remenent, then the earth would be without a mediater between man and god?
Yes. The 144000 symbolic bride of the symbolic lamb standing upon the symbolic Mt. Zion along with the 24 symbolic elders from the symbolic vision of Jesus Christ
given to John of Patmos. Yes. That's right.

Six of Nine:
Not only can I count to two, divide, add, and even figure out the square root of two in long hand, I am also old enough to remember being taught that the Earth was
headed for an ICE AGE. I do not dispute the changes in temperatures. I believe these to be facts. I have learned, however, to not accept ANYTHING that comes with
an agenda, which is why I am on JWD. I treat with skepticism and frankly, suspicion, anything and anyone who trumpets a cause only they are "intelligent"
enough to understand. Do you not see the religious fervor with which this issue is brought forth? I will make my own adjustments to my own lifestyle based on information
which I deem credible, reliable, verifiable, and reproducible.
here's the story in a nutshell.
i stepped aside as elder in a foreign language congregation with a resignation letter in august.. i cited doubts in doctrine concerning "this generation" and 1975, and also said i don't "know".
the governing body well enough to teach their doctrine.
OTWO:
Thanks for some insight into your situation. I've read some good advice here: no confrontation. That just justifies their actions against you.
I cannot tell you how many times in the last few months I just had to bite my tongue and smile, grit my teeth and yet nod my head. My exit is
progressing on my own terms, and I will not let them dictate the pace. Congrats on your move. And all the best!
And just by the way, elders--- the majority of them--- I think just simply do not know how to care. This is a religion that focuses on SURVIVAL, which
is different than focusing on PEOPLE. If two people are out in the middle of ocean and there's only one life vest, each one has as much a right to it as the
other even if a struggle is necessary to determine who gets the life preserver. With JW's it is no different: their focus is on hanging on to the life vest for THEIR OWN
life and they'll beat anyone away who threatens the hold they have on the life vest. This of course is so much different from Christ's message: give your soul
in behalf of your friends for there is no greater love. Your CO couldn't even give up his lunch!

So, why, again is global warming bad? Think of all the areas in northern latitudes that are presently uninhabitable because they are so cold? Ocean rise?
I guess that's bad if you have coastal property. Hurricances? I guess that's bad if you insure coastal property.
What I find fascinating is the ABSOLUTE certainty of man's direct causation of the warming when the evidence, as I see it, is simply that global temps. have increased
over the last century. Man's responsibility seems to me to be a CONCLUSION based on that evidence and then stated with ABSOTULE certainty. Sounds a liitle bit
like faith in an invisible kingdom.
yesterday was the first time i stepped into a kingdom hall in over twenty- five years.
i went there to attend my sister-in-law's funeral.
on the program they had a picture of her as a pretty young woman about the time i met her and my wife.
Very sorry for your loss.
I have been to three JW funerals in the last few months--- all good people who put their faith in the words of men and were very dissappointed. The aging and dieing of the older generation is evidence of what a failure this religion is. It is so cruel to give someone a hope that the scriptures say does not exist and then go "ooops". It is diabolical to then give a talk at a funeral where the carrot of never having to die is dangled as a promise from God for all "interested" ones, when they are BURYING a beleiver in that very same promise.
The leaders of this religion will have a heavy price to pay.
