I wanted to punch this elder so bad!
by OneDayillBeFree inso i decided to attend the meeting last.
since i haven't gone in about 2 weeks, and i leave as soon as it ends, and elder decided to corner me at the end.
lately i've been through some very depressing family issues that are non-jw related so i haven't been my best at acting like i care about the org.

"So then I said "what if Jehovah told you to think?" The elder's sly smirk went away. He just stood there. Speechless. Frozen. He had no answer."
I bet his balls shrived to the size of raisins when you said that. No wonder he had no answer, all he could focus on was his scrotum.

It got to be hard being a JW today!!!!
by jam ini can understand why they think the end is near.. in the old days, one was proud to be a jw (well maybe.
not for you young ones) but for us that came in the 60,s.
and 70,s, we felt no shame in our game.

"JWs lay low in the neighborhood so they can pretend to be normal people. They prefer not to work the territory their home is in. Deep down, they know the public views them as social parasites and just plain weird. Wearing that kind of badge must be depressing for JWs."
I've found this to be true as well. A JW family has lived two doors away for more than 30 years and I haven't once seen them knock on anyone's door in our neighborhood. To this day they have yet to even say hello as I go by unless I say it first.

Sad Discussion Regarding Beards

I'm just wondering, since I've never been a JW and I attended a Sunday meeting wearing my beard (picture Fraiser Crane's beard) and my usual pair of blue jeans would I be looked at in a funny way, or would they love bomb me when they found out that I'm a possible conversion candidate? If I continued to attend meetings (not that I'd ever do that) at what point would they pull me aside and say something?

Ever Have A Close Call?
by rocketman inyesterday i had a close call on the road - an out-of-control pickup truck veered into my lane, spinning as it approached and crashed into a pole about 50 feet in front of my car.
this is the second close encounter i've had, (both involving someone driving a pickup truck).
in this case, a couple of seconds made a huge difference, since i may have been directly hit had i just been a bit further along in my drive.. i would imagine that once a few days pass, i'll give less and less thought to the incident and i doubt it will precipitate major changes in my life or outlook (which i generally think is pretty healthy).

Yeah, about a year and a half ago I was on the highway and I glanced in my rearview mirror to see a car coming up behind me very fast. Since it was fairly far away I assumed the driver saw me and would pull into the next lane and pass me. When I glanced in the mirror again I saw it was about to hit me. It couldn't have been more inches away so I immediately steered to my right and started to fishtail, and the other car then steered hard left and started to fishtail. We both barely recovered control and she continued to speed by at an extreme rate of speed. It was a young female and my feeling at the time was that she was text messaging and my action is what diverted her attention enough to take action to avoid hitting me. I have no doubt that an extremely serious accident was averted. It really angers me to see people talking on cell phones or texting while driving.

Day One After Armgeddon written by a JW awaiting the Big A w/eager expectation - Warning: LOOOONG!!!
by Eve Deceived inonce we found out we were all witnesses, we all hugged.
now we just had to see if our kingdom hall was still standing.
when we came to the hall we had such a huge shock.. there were so many people there.

"So we walked away from the hall into the deserted streets and found a big pickup truck standing in the middle of an intersection. A big burly man lay dead across the front of it, a woman lay dead next to it, we wondered briefly if she was the mans wife."
Notice the implied idea that since they were both dead these "worldly people" may have not have been married, and if so the further implication that maybe they were fornicators.
"We moved the bodies to the side of the road and started the pickup truck; it started straight away. The fuel tank was half full so we decided we would use it for our search. Brother Jim reached into the glove box and found a handful of CDs. They were all rap and heavy metal so he walked to a rubbish bin and threw them away."
What else would you expect to find in the glove box of evil worldly people other than rap and heavy metal?
The delusion of the JWs is so evident in this story of Armageddon survival. How can any rational person swallow such rubbish? Well, obviously, JWs aren't very rational are they. Glad to see jgnat posted the "antidote" link. That's the first thing that came to my mind when I started reading this codswallop.

What was the recent change made regarding baptisms?
by Witness My Fury injust saw a post by splash on the commision transcript thread: (pasted below).
we had a talk at our hall recently, basically saying that there have been lots of letters written to the uk branch, questioning and complaining about a new change introduced for the baptisms at the sad and ca.. the talk did not try to reason, it did not try to explain.. the talk was "do as you are told, don't question what you are told".. we were told to do as the song instructs us "listen, obey and be blessed".. we were told that this change was from jehovah so keep up with his chariot.. i think this talk was given in quite a few locations around the country.. what was that all about please?.

Global Cooling
by Jomavrick inso if i send money to al gore to pay for carbon credits, will it warm up the 30 degree temperature outside today?
pearly on years ago when i realized a few people and organizations were using junk science as away to build a cottage industry of money making and taxing, i knew it was a hoax.
then when the data came back to show the earth has been cooling instead of warming, the con artists changed the label from global warming to climate change.. believe what you want to, i don't care, but blind allegiance to the gw idea is so similar to jw belief in my mind, blind!.

Last year here in Wisconsin March was unseasonably warm and I started riding my bike in the first week of the month. This is what I saw out my front and back doors this past Thursday, May 2:
By the time it stopped snowing 14" had fallen, and even more fell a few miles north of me.

Another thing to try is meditation. There are all kinds of meditations out there on the internet, free for the asking, but a very simple and effective one is watching the breath. Or try Dr. Herbert Benson's "relaxation response", which includes breath awareness:
