I have been out of the JW's for many years now but I still have devout JW's family members. And I am attending college now at 40 yrs old working on my BA degree. I was so happy a few years ago when my JW mom told me that the WT is slacking off on telling JW's teenagers that college is bad and it is ok to attend college and universities. So I felt at least these kids would have an opportunity that I did not have when I was 18 yrs old. If you went to college back in the 80' s you were "marked" and stripped of your position in the KH. The elders talked so bad about attending college that I dropped out after the first semester. So when my mom told me a few years ago that it was ok I cheered the WT for allowing some freedom for JW kids. Now my JW neighbor told me the other day that at the JW convention he went to the WT society is again denouncing "college" because the "end" is near. I am so sick and tired of the WT trying to scare JW kids off from getting a good education. I think they are afraid of JW kids going to college and doing research on the WT and many JW kids leaving the JW's. What is the deal now is going to college now a disfellowshipping, disassociation, or "reproving" act?

Did you know of any JW's that committed suicide before they were DF'd or DA
by booker-t ini was talking to a good friend of mine that is an ex-jw and we were having coffee the other day when he told me of one of his good friends that killed himself because the elders publicly "reproved" him.
i felt so bad when my friend told me of this horrible story but he said there are many cases of jw's committing sucide before they are df'd or da'd or publicly reproved.
did you know of any jw's that killed themselves before or after being kicked out of the wt?

this girl shocked me because usually ex-jws are so unhappy and miserable and spend most of their time complaining about the "evil" wt society.
she told me that when she was df'd alot of ex-jws swarmed towards her trying to get her to "bash" the wt but she refused.

Some of you posters think that my classmate is taking being an ex-jw lightly. Her whole family especially her mom are "devout" JW's. Until her Disfellowshipping she was a 3rd generation JW. She is being shunned by her whole family so trust me she is getting her dose of Anti-ex-jw attacks from her JW family. And she is such a nice and fun person to talk to. No bitterness at all from her and she was baptized at the age of 10 years old and "pioneered" all in her teens. The only way I found out she was an ex-jw is because we were talking about "cults" in my psychology class and I was telling the class about my involvement with the JW's and after class she told me she understood just what I was talking about. But she has no hostility towards JW's. So Jeanniebeaz your comment was totally unfounded.

She told me that when she was DF'd alot of ex-jws swarmed towards her trying to get her to "bash" the WT but she refused. She made it clear to me that as long as ex-jws continue to bash the WT they will never move on with their lives. It is unhealththy to continue to bash and bash and bash a group of people expecting them to change. I took a good look at myself and realize she was right on the money. We ex-jws spend so much time bashing the WT or trying to get our JW relatives to change that we in the process kill ourselves. She said when you first leave naturally you are going to be angry and it is good to vent for a while but after years and years it is time to move on. I know some ex-jws that still get all of the Watchtowers and Awakes just to criticize them. Many ex-jws explain it away by saying they are trying to warn the public about the WT and help JW relatives. What is you viewpoint on this subject should we "bash" or not "bash"?

How did the elders explain John 20:28 My Lord and My God when you were a JW

we went back and forth about jesus and the trinity doctrine.
i was not to strong on the trinity doctrine so the elder with me took over the conversation with the preacher.

When the Preacher had the elder read John 20:28 the elder said that Thomas was in shock at seeing Jesus raise from the dead and said something like Oh my God! I never did swallow this explaination but pretending it made sense when the elder asked me about it later after we left that preacher's house. How did the elders explain John 20:28 to you when you were a JW or how did you answer this verse when in field service?

Help me posters out there. My atheist cousin insist that the bible is full of contradictions, and lies and he uses Ezekiel 4:12-17 to try and prove that Jehovah is just as sick and demented as Satan the Devil. Now my question is why would Jehovah want Ezekiel to do a sick and disgusting thing like making bread with human feces? Just the mere thought of it makes me want to vomit. Maybe I am reading the scriptures wrong or something but it does say what my cousin says it says. I have never seen these verses before in my life. My cousin tells me there are many many more outrageous things in the Bible that he has shown Christians and JW's and both just turn their heads and pretend they did not see what he showed them. Alot of people feel that Jehovah and Satan are one and the same person. I have also heard Atheist say that if God exist then he has a split personality one good and one evil. Can someone out there help me with these scriptures so I can tell my cousin. Thanks

Little-Toe you are doing the same thing that Jehovah's Witnesses do when they hear a truth about themselves. Attacking the person or messanger instead of the information. "Cult-tinted" glasses where in my post did I ever use the word "cult"? You are displaying the old "they are picking on me" complex which JW's always use when you bring up their flaws. Since you state that you are Born-Again you just proven my point about how JW's and BA's are more alike then different.

Ever since I left the JW's I visited a few Born-Again Christian churches and I felt like I was sitting in a Kingdom Hall of JW's. Because born-agains are more like JW's then they want to admit. Both JW's and BA's think they know everything. Both JW's and BA's have a God-complex that what they say is straight from Almighty God himself. Both JW's and BA's think that their interpretation of the Bible is the only correct interpretation and all other interpretations are false. Both JW's and BA's think that when someone leaves their fold they are going straight to the Devil Satan. JW's feel if they say Jehovah, Jehovah, Jehovah, Jehovah 50 million times a day (which use to annoy the hell out of me when I was a JW) then they are safe just like BA's think if they say Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus every other word (which is also annoying) means they are safe. JW's love to talk about "worldly" people who are doomed for destruction if they don't become JW's. BA's love to talk about the "unsaved" or so and so is "not saved". Both JW's and BA's love to label people even their own members. You will hear JW's talk about another JW and say "Sister Smith is "inactive" or Sister Smith is no longer in the truth" or Sister Smith is "Disfellowshipped or Disassociated". Why can't they just say Sister Smith without put on a negative label behind her name? Born-Agains do the same thing with their members. You always hear BA's say Sister Jones is a "backslider" or "backsliding christian. Or you may hear BA's talk about someone and say that person is the "anti-christ" or "man of lawlessness". These are just a few examples of how JW's and BA's are more alike then they both want to admit. I think they are going to fight even when they get to heaven or paradise earth. What do you think?

i have always thought christians put to much emphasize on the number 666 and trying to make it a real person such as hitler, nero, president reagan, president clinton, etc; i have always felt the book of revelations is symbolic and cannot be taken so literally.
i think many born-agains and other christian group are going to be shocked when they realize that they have been misled by their ministers and religious leaders.
