The Organization is Just Like a Controlling, Abusive Lover
by new light inthe mentality of many who defend the org.
and/or continue membership despite knowing the evidence against them is similar to that of a person who defends an abusive/controlling lover.
"sure, he controls every aspect of my life, doesn't let me spend time with anyone else, and beats me when i do, but that's beacause he loves me.".

Witnesses are broke
by metatron ini realize i risk making an over-generalization here, but i notice that many witnesses are just broke or nearly so.. this was reinforced with a recent incident in which i learned that only a few people in the congregation have any.

Yeah, my 80 yr. old witness auntie has to keep a paper route to survive, it makes me even more angry at this religion for misleading their people . Not that money is everything, but they take it to just the opposite extreme. I'm just grateful that my husband and I have the stable jobs we do with insurance and benefits.

today is the day that the first of over 200 walk with god district conventions of jws begin...obviously we'll be interested in the new light, the convention releases, etc.

crisis of conscience....please help

please tell me if you think a jehovah's witness could read crisis of concience and continue to be a jw after finishing it?
since i have heard vague stories that there are some who have continued to be a jw, please relate the story and how you think this could be.

Boa I agree with Sally. Plus I think that is why many of them refuse to even look at the Ray Frantz books or the UN letter, because if they did they may have to admit they are wrong. I know my family will not look at any of it. I have tried to get them to see the flaws in the org. and they just brush it off as Ray being an apostate, so they won't read his stuff. To them it is designed to make people want to leave the org.
I dunno, I read CofC and I am not "following" Ray Frantz so I fail to see their point. Kib

My son went to his first b-day party Sat!
by kibizzle inhe had a blast, and later that day we ran into an elder and his wife (very judgemental people, even for jw's) and he blurted out that he had been to a friends birthday party.
it was all i could do not to crack up!

Xena, he's going to be 8 in Dec. I felt the same way about not celebrating my son's birthday as you did not celebrating your daughter's (we both had a difficult time in delivery and I know he's going to be my ONLY). Every year I always secretly got him something special and took him to his favorite restaurant for dinner. He is in 1st grade and in school all day, and I work afternoons so I don't even get to see him during the week but for an hour in the morning. I finally snapped, I just didn't want to spend all my free time with my son getting ready for meetings, going to meetings, coming home from meetings, not to mention studying and field service. And all the doubts, I just couldn't do it anymore.
Mic and arrow, unfortunately I have a prehistoric computer, I don't have any high tech gadgets like digi- cameras and such. ( It takes me a half hour just to get online!)
My son once we got to the party- didn't want me to stay! I left him there for an hour and a half, which was great to see him socialize with his classmates, I think being in the borg really stunted his social and emotional growth and it was nice to know he was OK with me leaving.

kls, my h did the same thing. I'm still waiting on his return. My uneducated guess would be that the GB is trying to counteract all of the negative exposure lately by giving a "special talk" about the severe persection going on in these last days against God's people. Just a thought. Let us know what you hear. Kib
