Sure. Why not? A few years ago when I was considering a new truck, I considered the extra three grand for a turbo diesel instead of a gas engine ... based on the price difference between unleaded and diesel, and the difference in fuel mileage, I calculated that I would come out ahead after something like 125,000 or 150,000 miles. I drove my last truck to almost 275,000 miles, so it was a no-brainer.

I really do miss my 455 TransAm. On the plus side, I do still have a GrandPrix with the 455/4 bll V-8. It's a little more comfortable, but does not handle as well as the T/A.
I almost forgot about your hypothetical 50,000 pounds of currency ... hmmmm ... First, I'd buy a 2004 GTO. Then I'd pick up another GTO ... maybe a 455 H.O ... then I'd pick out either a 455 Super Duty Trans Am, or a nice land yacht ... like a GrandVille convertible. (Are you seeing a Pontiac theme here?)

i don't think it's likely, but perhaps one day the major powers might even respond to religion-related terrorism by joining together to restrain or control religion under the banner of the u.n.. such events certainly could trigger a response from the fears/phobias that ex-jws may carry around with them due to years of wt indoctrination -- however much repressed these are at most times.
I think if I saw the Four Horsemen galloping down my street, I might think to myself "Darn. Maybe the JWs were right after all." Odds are, I'd just flag the horsemen down & ask them to drop off more beer when they come back through again.
my hubby and i were trying to put together a reasonable schedule once.
we had meeting on sunday, ministry school on tuesday, book study on wednesday and service on saturday.
ok we have the watchtower before the sunday meeting that needs to be read, all the scriptures looked up and hidden definitions to research, same with the book study, the service meeting and if you had a part on the school, you had to spend time putting that together.

And that little econo-box reminds me of the Geo Metro my mother used to drive. Sure, it went a long ways on a gallon of gas, but every time Mom drove over a bump, my head thumped against the roof. I hated riding in that car. I received a reminder of how cramped those things are just this past Saturday while riding with a friend in his Metro. My knees were plastered against the dashboard, and I felt real bad for the poor guy who had to wedge himself into the back seat.

Depends on your driving record & the rates for your area & the type of car you drive. I'm astounded by what some folks pay for auto insurance. Ours is just over $1000 a year for full coverage on both her car and my truck. I know some folks who pay that every six months for just one vehicle. Of course, they have some serious dings on their driving records ... DUIs or lots of moving violations, etc.

Six, one of my brothers has the Dodge 3500 with the Cummins Diesel/5 speed manual, and he gets more than 20 MPG. I looked at one of those and a GMC HD2500 with the Durmax Diesel/6 speed manual before I bought my current truck ... I just couldn't bring myself to buy a $40,000 pickup. For me, buying a used truck for $12,000 ... jeez, I can burn through a lot of gasoline before I'd make up that $28,000 difference in price.

I had another GMC Extended Cab 4x4 before this one, and it was a little better on gas. It had a V-6 with a 5 speed manual transmission. I averaged around 18 MPG, and could get 20 on long highway trips.
Don't get me wrong, folks. It would be nice to spend less on gasoline. But I chose these trucks because of their utility, rather than their fuel economy. I have adequate and comfortable seating for five. I can get through all kinds of road conditions (and off-road conditions). And I have the ability to haul large, heavy items when I need to do so.
Mrs. O drives a Pontiac Bonneville, and it goes farther on a gallon of gas ... we got close to 30 MPG on our last Texas trip. I don't find the Pontiac's seats to be as comfortable as those in my truck. i think it has a lot to do with the inflatable lumbar supports in the truck's seats, and the additional leg room.
