"I think the apostles drove a Japanese car...."
Nope. The apostles drove Chevrolet Suburbans. There were 12 of them and they liked fishing. These guys needed a vehicle which could haul a bunch of adults and tow a boat.

Did you ever see an elder with a 2 door car?
by JH in.
i already bought 2 door cars, and the witnesses didn't like it... i felt looked down upon, as it was a sin to buy a 2 door car.. now imagine an elder buying a 2 door car....

who escapes more often, those born into it or adult converts?
by kid-A inwhat strikes me on this board is the number of adult converts that have left the borg, either fading out or getting df'd.
from my experience (i was born into it, 2nd generation, left before getting baptized) most of the faders or escapees were also like.
me, born into it, never really accepted it and just bowed out at the first opportunity.

"or why doesn't jehovah care about my friends who aren't witnesses?"
Yeah, or (one of my fav questions as a kid) "What about those aboriginal tribes living on some remote island or in the deepest jungle? Will they be wiped out at armageddon, even though they have never heard of Jehovah or read the Watchtower?"
The response was something like "Dat's why armageddon won't happen until da good news is preached to aAAAALLLLLLLLllllllll da earf! Now, start preachin', boy! Dose folks who saw the events of 1914 are getting older by da second." -

"It seems to me that people born into it or married into it will have a more difficult time leaving because they will by default have family in the bOrg."
I would think it's the other way around. Those of us who were born into it had the longest exposure to the bullshit & were more likely to see doctrinal flipflops (a.k.a. "new light"). We also had no choice about our involvement; it was forced on us.
On the other hand, those who converted as adults actively chose to be dubs. Seems like they would be less likely to leave.

Do pickup trucks count? If so, most of the elders had a 2 door car when I was a kid. -

Does anyone else flip off the Kingdom Hall when they drive by?
by Dustin inso it has become habit for me to go out of my way when driving to make sure i can give it the finger as i drive by.
i especially like to do this on the way to one of my favorite bars, especially on meeting nights just so people who knew me can see me do it.
i don't know why, but this has become a tradition of sorts.

I don't flip off the local KH. But I do sometimes snicker at the For Sale sign that has adorned the lawn for at least a year, or maybe two years now. Seems that no one wants to buy it.

do JWs believe in dinosaurs?

"I asked a JW once about this and his reply was that they have found fossilized footprints of a t-rex and a mans foot next to it. Hence the two once walked side by side. "
Absolutely. As we all can imagine, this was before Adam's sin, when he was at peace with the animals. Later, G Hoover made clothes for Adam & Eve from the animal skins (no doubt some sort of swanky reptilian leather outfit). It is this obsession with the latest fashions (which continues to this day, mind you, to the peril of many species around the globe) which was largely responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs. The Flood of Noah's day was just the straw that broke the dinosaur's back, so to speak. :-P -

Does your barber or hair stylist use a straight razor?
by Elsewhere inthe other day i was getting my hair cut.
after she was finished using the clippers to trim the back of my neck she pulled out a straight razor to scrape the hair on my neck even closer.
i just about jumped out of the chair when i saw her try to trim me with that thing!

When I was a kid, it was standard procedure ... a bunch of work with scissors, then the clippers, then the hot lather & the straight razor around the ears & the back of the neck ... but I haven't seen a barber use a straight razor in 20 years or more. I'm surprised it's even allowed there under current health codes. I remember asking here 5 or 10 years ago & was told it's not allowed in Indiana, anyway.

Why are pigs "unclean" and what does "unclean" mean?
by Elsewhere inthere are several religions that teach that pork is an "unclean" meat and therefore should be avoided.. what, exactly, does "unclean" mean?
when i think of "unclean" i think of something contaminated by dirt or dangerous bacteria.
is there some other "spiritual" substance in pigs that cannot be detected?.

It's because of Simon, and his apostateness. G. Hoover frowns upon him.

"In general, European nations are more down to earth about the role their nation has, and has had historically, in world events. " In other words, "down to earth" = "castrated? Pussy whipped? WTF? Now, given the speed with which Hitler rolled across the continent and the expansionism of Stalin, I suppose I can understand European trepidation. But it doesn't mean that I think that the U.S. should cower in the shadows. If cowering and making apologies for terrorists and fascists and others of ill repute works for Belgium or Holland or Greater Manchester or whatever, then so be it. I would not want to live my life in such fear.
