  Were You Treated With Respect When Counseled By The Elders?

  i knew a certain few elders that really got off by "talking down" to the "flock".

  many elders were pretty nice guys but a few could turn----just like that!

  what was your experience with "those taking the lead", the "loving shepherds"???

  There's usually 1 "tough" elder to balance things out....He's the one that convinced the other 2 to DF and "hey, even if we're wrong, they can come back in 6 months".

  Exactly, it's like there not really sure so they test you by DF'ing you. If they were wrong then you'll immediately come back to all the meetings and reinstate you, If you don't imediately get reinstated then they were right. To bad about the damage it does to you and your family hey! Helllooooo we are actual people not just pawns in a stupid game.

  I feel good

  after a couple of days away from the board and doing some hard thinking and contemplation about my life, and reading (though i'm not done yet and the conclusion may turn out to be a letdown) a fabulously insightful book called the courage to be, a funny thing has happened...i feel as sane, calm, and alive as i've felt in years, maybe ever.

  maybe this is a manic episode or something.

  probably not because i'm not really doing anything productive nor am i making any grandiose plans.

  I came to this realisation when my marriage was on it's last legs. Had spent my whole life trying to be what others thought I should be, especially my husband. I was talking to my uncle about trying to sort it out and just try an be a better person. He just said to me no, you need to be you and if your husband can't accept that then you will both be miserable. He said I was a beautiful person and needed to go out and find someone who embraced all my qualities and personality traits, good and bad.

  Only then was I able to realise that I liked who I was it was others who had a problem with me, not me with myself.

  Funnily enough my uncle is an elder, go figure.

  Elder Comes To My Mother's House To Inquire of Minimus & Family

  my mom told me yesterday that my friend (while growing up) who is an elder again, (after years of mental problems), came to her house and inquired as to how my family and i are doing.

  he said we have become a subject of conversation at a recent get together..... of course, my mother started crying, told him to ask me himself and told him she did not wish to talk about this subject since it severely depresses her.

  he backed off but shortly asked again.

  I'm so sorry to hear that he upset your mum, Why do they always upset our families when all they want is stuff on us.

  If i were you I'd ring this guy and tell him to leave your mum alone.

  It's so dumb the way they just go along with the rules.

  I just learnt the other night that my auntie and uncle, both JW my uncle is an elder, don't agree with the fact that I was disfellowshipped, told my mum that the elders did not get to know me enough and did not take into consideration steps I was taking to become a stronger witness. Yet they still refuse to speak to me, they were like parents to me and are the only relatives I have close by. It's so hypocritical. Really pissed at the moment.

  Never had a problem with the elders untill my son was abused then it was a different matter my husband and I were treated really badly.

  Also when I was disfellowshipped one of the Elders was real nasty, would ask me questions and then but in when I tried to answer them, boy did I tell him off for that. The other two elders were really nice and understanding about the whole thing, I'm pretty annoyed at them though because the let this elder treat me like crap, they just sat ther and did nothing.

  Most of the time I found them ok, just wern't as supportive as they should have been.

  i am a 20 year old baptized wittness who for the past year has been trying to do some serious reserach on all the things i have been made to believe in the wt society.it only makes sense that my research should not only include those in the wt publications and so therefore i need some help:

  1. what is everyone's thoughts on society not allowing brothers to wear beards?

  i read somewhere that russel(society's first prez) had a beard and the second pres( russel) wanted to completely dissassosiate anything having to do with russel and so therefore outlawed against them.

  Welcome to the board.

  Love all your questions. I think brothers should be allowed to have beards too. My dad and brother in law look great in a beard, a lot of brothers here grow them when they are camping but shave them when they get back to civilisation.

  I get really pissed at all the inconsistencies to, like why can't sisters wear pants to the meetings and witnessing, I live in a really cold climate and have been witnessing in the snow, wearing a skirt, froze my a**e off.

  ever get one of those jungles in your head and you can't get rid of it.

  i was trying to put my son to sleep, there he is leaning on me and i'm humming, and realized it was a kingdom melody.

  It's amazing how many of those songs I know by heart, I suppose after 30 years of singing them It will take ages to start to forget them.

  1........................that your loved one suffering from an addiction that puts them at serious risk joins the wts and is able to give up the substance abuse????????

  the price???????????

  cutting all ties with you because you have da'ed or have been df'ed, but at least they are safe to some extent??????????????.

  Substance addiction may be very harmful but addiction to the Borg can be just as harmful. Also are those who go into the borg getting over substance abuseever treated equally.

  Those that I new of were always treated like a charity case, no mater how well they got. And the gossip mills were always spreading rumours about them.

  There are plenty of other organisations out ther to help those with substance abuse that don't have the side effects of the Borg.
