We Adopted A Kitten ...

from a shelter for abused/homeless animals.. she's gray, black, and white.

one eye is larger than the other, and she's charmed the entire household.. my g'daughter named her hannah - after the biblical hannah, of course.

i'm back at work and my g'daughter at school, so we had to leave her in an enclosure.. it just about broke our hearts.. sylvia.

I have three cats and they have all found me. The latest is from a renter that walked away from their house and left the cat. She is so sweet, but she HATES other cats - so it has been difficult to integrate her into the household.

I am very happy you rescued a kitten from a shelter. I work for a local government entity that includes an animal shelter. They had a cat fair this weekend because they are overloaded with cats. They couldn't adopt out any cats. That totally breaks my heart. I told the animal control officer not to tell me if they have to euthanize - he said it wasn't their policy - but with the budget issues, they might have to resort to euthanization. So if anyone can find room in their household/heart for another kitty, please get one for a shelter.

My boss says that I am very "gregarious". But I don't know if I am very likeable - I am pretty sarcastic and that can be annoying after awhile.

I think I have blocked most of the bad stuff out. But I do remember one of those district conventions when we had to go out in service in the afternoon. We did this block near my junior high school (I was attending at the time) and my friend rang the door and this guy (I was totally in love) opened the door. What did I do? I flat out ran away and left my friend standing there. As a teenager, it was the worst moment of my life.

Can a jw get disfellowshiped for eating easter eggs?

We always bought "holiday" food because it was cheaper that time of the year. But I have never heard of anyone being DF'd for eating eggs on easter, or turkey on Thanksgiving. But then again, maybe two witnesses didn't see someone eating holiday food.

What to do with left over memorial emblems

we have an italian cong that shares the hall with 2 english congs.

an elder from the italian cong makes the wine & bread every year for quite a few of the congs in melbourne.. after the last memorial is held in our hall, the wine is taken back to this elders house where certain privileged ones are invited back for some socialising and to drink a very nice drop of red wine!

as well as the usual assortment of cheese platters and crunchy bread.. we were privileged enough to be invited back a few years ago, but the whole idea didnt seem to sit well with me, so we took a raincheck and never got invited back again.

I guess I was in one of those "special" elder families. My dad would bring it all home and he would imbibe the wine and the rest of us ate the unleavned crackers. Actually, crackers would have been better than what the anointed get to eat. The reasoning was -- the memorial was over and the emblems no longer meant anything. Whatever.

We use Ecos Laundry Detergent. We have a front loading washer and it works just fine. One day we would like to put a grey water system in, and this detergent would be good for that. Oh, and we buy it at Costco.

MEMORIAL SHOCK!!!!--- Part 2

a few days ago i started a thread about a "brother" who is climbing jw corporate ladder in the speed of lightning...he was only baptised recently, but already "anointed" and therefore partaking..... well, at this year's memorial we were subjected to an emotional showoff...his wife cried her lungs out as he partook....apparently she is upset at the fact that they won't be together in the new system, because he will be in heaven and she will be on earth!!!.

a lot of people in our cong were also touched and almost half of them were in tears....i have to say that it looked so convincing that even the worldlies will think that this is the truth....
