A NEW METHOD OF PREACHING!
by Mary ineveryone remember a few years ago with the gb decided that the rank and file witness just wasn't bugging the hell out of enough people because no one was ever home saturday morning?
they came up with the brainstorming idea to approach people in parking lots!!!
(ya, that goes over reeeeeeeal well)......as if going to the person's home to tell them about their imminent death wasn't bad enough, now ya gotta tell them when they're out shopping!

Does Disfellowshipping violate the Constitution?
by YoursChelbie inmaybe this is just my observation but.... with the exception of crimal offenses, is not disfellowshiping by the wts unconstitutional?
at the very least they violate the right to freedom of speech.
(i know about the separation of church and state...).

Shunning can be a form of child abuse, in my opinion. I know of one instance where a minor child was left homeless after the df'ing, and when we took him in the elders told us he was not permitted to live in our house or he would never get re-instated. One elder actually suggested that the boy live in a car rather than our house. My husband told the elders to take a hike. The other instance is a son of an elder who was asked to leave the house while they invited the congregation over to celebrate his sister's engagement. Can you imagine not being allowed to attend your own sister's engagement party???!!!! So he went to the movies. Sick!!

Why WTS Wants A Young Girl To Die
by metatron inhere we have a paradox - a mystery on which a life hangs.. the society dumped their new blood cards.
they write ambiguous replies to "questions from.
readers" about what blood products can or can't be taken.

I don't really agree with you. Where I came from, if you were viewed as "rich" you were looked down
on as materialistic, and judged for everything. I think it boils down to the type of congregation you come from. If it is a wealthy area and the members are all materially well off then those who are not will feel that they are treated unfairly and judged, however if you happen to be in a congregation who's
members are from lower income, and lower educated area, and the elders are of such, you better realize that you will be judged for everything you do and have, even if you are the most generous donator. I remember when we first bought our home here and went to check out the congregation in our territory, the PO came up to welcome us and ask us where our new house was. When we told him he was suprised and said "oh you are in the snooty section." That about summed it up.

Witnesses Are Great Folks
by FrankRaven ini know i'll get a lot of flack from this, but witnesses are good folks.and your average witness is concerned about you,non-witness.i've been there and i almost became one.my ex did become one.
it's not what they are taught by the watchtower,it's how one is taught.if one was what a witness was taught there wouldn't be any witnesses.it's how one is taught.most of the witnesses always told me,if you have any questions there's a book by the society that will answer your question.
(s)the watchtower is persistent.well so was i.the more books i read that the watchtower wrote, the more questions i had.and i,always, made sure i stayed on the topic.they never did.they always avoided my questions.and they are real good at that.

Unlike most other religious communites, the JW's do not have any concept of what friendship is other than the brainwashed concept funneled down to them from the GB. That is that friendship with anyone who is not a witness is being an enemy of God. And friendship with anyone who leaves the "TRUTH" is totally forgotten, no matter how long, or how close, one's friendship was. They have distorted the concept in the Bible that they use to validate this behavior. They have been programmed to believe that friendship with worldlings is friendship with Satan. That scripture has been totally distorted, it's true meaning really is putting things of this world above your conscience of what is right and what is wrong. Witnesses think of this scripture as the "world" being people. They are so fearful of making themselves God's enemy because of the Armegeddon thing, that they live there whole lives with these distorted scriptural concepts. I have looked up scriptures in other Bibles and compared them to the NWT and found how unbelievably controlled in thinking JW's really are because of the WT adding and embelleshing their own thoughts on these Scriptures.

Anyone w/anxiety disorders? Describe it.
by ashitaka ini'm curious to see if anyone here has any major anxiety disorders and how it affects their lives.
as a semi-confession, i think i may have something of this sort, but i'd like a comparison first.
being a male, i never go to the doctors unless my leg is falling off, so i don't just want to go to a doctor to medicate a problem that could be overcome in other ways.

Hi Ashi, I think almost all Jehovah's Witnesses experience some level of anxiety disorder due to the natue of the way they are expected to believe the way life is, and the way they must live. The next
time you and Lauren come over I will give you some info I have.

SUICIDE IN KH PARKING LOT
by Sabine inlast saturday, a former ministerial servant and pioneer committed suicide in the woodinville washington kingdom hall parking lot.
he was disfellowshipped several years ago, and according to the old sister that related the story to me today, he was depressed because no one would talk to him.
i don't know how i kept calm when she explained to me that "we couldn't talk to him...he was disfellowshipped.".

Sabine,
I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter, and the painful memories of that loss have been so accutely triggered by this young man's suicide. God, this religion has caused so much suffering in so many ways. They have so much to answer for. You are so right about what you said about living right, and having joy in your life as being the best answer you can give these heartless JW's who don't know the meaning of what it is to have love.
