There was a time when my family was warned by elders never to talk to anyone about what happened, and never to talk about the molester. We were recently told not to talk about what was said during the civil trial or we would be disciplined. This was to keep the congregations from knowing about sexual abuse. It was like a perpetrator telling the victims not to tell. Well the victims have roared and now every newspaper and many new and radio shows have freely reported it. Now all the congregations in the Watchtower Organization know that they have the same sins as the Catholic Church does. And for me it is a little gratifying to know that with all the effort the elders and my father-in-laws' family could not keep the pedophile's secret. I am glad to have a part in exposing this and I wish I could be there, Bill, for the candlelight vigil. But I will have my own candles lit and eager to hear how it goes.

spokesman for jehovahs witnesses have made allegations that are untruthful, from saying that they had no idea who was appearing on dateline, stating that it has been established policy that child molesters work only in twos in the door to door ministry, to stating the judicial meetings were over other sins against god.

I went to Brooklyn Hts. today to pick my son up from college at the New York Institute of Technology, which is right in the heart of Bethel. He brought home a news paper with the headlines entitled:
CHILD-MOLESTATION PROBLEMS NOW HIT HEIGHTS-BASED JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. I tried to see if I could find the article on line, but was not successful so I will post some of the things mentioned in the article;
It took up the front page and another full page.
"For almost a century the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, or Jehovah's Witnesses, have called Brooklyn Heights their world headquarters. Today, the Watchtower governing body rules from a lofty perch overlooking New York Harbor and Wall Street, overseeing more than a million square feet of spacein Brooklyn Heights, Fulton Ferry Historic District, and DUMBO. The Heights, is, in effect, thier Vatican City. But a recent controversy over how the governing body has handled child molestation and abuse cases might have caused a rift in the church membership at large, much the same way the Catholic Church has faced it." (Story Page 2)It goes on to talk about the same things mentioned in other news articles about Bill Bowen, Barbara Anderson, and us, the Pandelo's. The story is quite long and I can't mention it all but one thing that caught my eye was that it mentioned the Catholic Church twice, as having the same problems. This must be driving Headquarters crazy, since they have spent the century judging the Catholic Church as being identified by it's fruitage of pedophile priests, false religion. Take the rafter out of your own eye Watchtower The story also mentions "Bill Bowen has heard from thousands of victims in the past year. The allegations involve both rank and file members of the church and, like the scandal engulfing the Roman Catholic Church, leaders of the faith."
Has anyone seen this article or posted it somewhere?

Hilda, it is just like a JW to pass the buck off on Satan. Let's blame Satan for our hiding pedophiles in the Orgnaization. The issue is not Britany Spears. Sounds like you have an issue with her. The issue is this. The Organization who has claimed the following.
"We are clean", "we are special" "we always tell the "Truth", "the Catholic religion hides and moves Pedophiles around".....blah, blah,blah....
Hilda, the truth is not based on one lie after another, and everthing that the WT Organization has put in print lambasing other religions is coming back to bite them in the butt. The JW's are not different or more special, or have less problems than any other social, or religious group. The reason they are different is because they Hide Who They Really Are, and What They Really Do. The Watchtower can't even hide behind the statement they love to use, such as "oh these are just imperfect men. Well we can use that excuse for any religion teaching thier brand of the truth. To think that an organiztion run by lawyers to protect thier financial interests has anything to offer in a spiritual way to it's members is a just rediculous. An organiztion who changes Bible scripture so that it can elevate it's leadership over Christ and his angels is an organization that has duped it's members. Hilda, even you are a big fat nothing when it comes to the Headquarters lawyers and those taking direction from them. Watchtower is worried about it's fiancial interests that depend on it's perfect image. It is not worried about children. -

LETTERS TO BOE/DON"T WATCH DATELINE?

i was wondering if this is really true or just a rumor.
if it is true, this is terrible that they can actually deny members freedom of press or punishment.

The Radio Show was Mike Regan (son of Ronald Regan). We told him we would wait to do the interview following the airing of Dateline. Has anyone heard of this show? It broadcasts nationwide. Dateline will be airing towards the end of this month. That is all I am allowed to say. I wish I could say more.

JW Kids - More Frightened Than Most?
by Englishman inive recently been in contact with a couple of ex-jws that i knew in my childhood.. what has surfaced is the amount of fear that we experienced as young children when we were involved with the witnesses.
i accept that children often do develop irrational fears as part of growing up, but what i am talking about here is a deep-seated fear of being harmed.. many young children that i grew up with in the witness religion were of an unusually nervous disposition.
i recall how when i was first taken to meetings that i found the whole experience somewhat sinister and strange.

Englishmen, you have raised an interesting topic about fear among Jehovah's Witnesses. Fear is the main control perpetrators have over victims. The fear instilled by WT through continues long drawn out talks, articles studies etc. slowly works into the psyche of the members. In children it is overwhelming. Just about a year before we decided to leave my little daughter, the youngest who is now 15 but was around 7 at the time wrote in her school journal that "I am scared because I am a Jehovah Witness and I don't celebrate holidays",. She was fearful because she was damned if she did and damned if she didn't. The fear of going to school and being "different" is extremely disruptive to the normal growth process in children where part of normal developemnt is to fell accepted and to fit in. The fear if she tried to fit in, and lose acceptance in her Church community and ultimately with the Watchtower god of cruelty and murder. This was very very upsetting to me as a parent more attuned through my other daughter's situation of being emotionally abuse through fear of discipline by elders if she told about her abuse. I began to feel I wanted to get out and get my children out. It is also a fact that many adult Jehovah's Witnesses are currently on medication for panic attacks. I had been plaqued by them during the battle through the years with elders over my daughters molestation and dealing with the Watchtower Society over it. When I got into therapy, my therpist said that I had symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the panic attacks were trigger by entering the Kingdom Hall. The root of panic attacks come from fear, and helplessness. I am no longer on medication for panic attacks and have not had any since leaving the Borg. Fear is a terrible thing and the WT must be guilty of many suicides, heart attacks, and cancer because of what the stress hormones do to the body and mind.
