ok funny question....i have a friend who used to get to the meeting drunk as a skunk sometimes and he'd play it off nicely.
i do know of a couple of times he came stoned too.

Unfortunately, no. But I think the meetings would have been a bit more interesting, and the time would have gone by quicker, but then again, I used to do the sound and the music at the meetings, no telling what could have happened! SCREEEEEEEETCH!
i read online that teenage jw's have a suicide rate four times higher than the national average.
i was curious if anybody could refer me to actual statistics that could either confirm or deny that.
i have a friend who was struggling with suicidal thoughts a few months ago and now her new boyfriend is trying to convert her to be a jw.

it sure sounds like it to me; jw doctrine more or less scared me into thinking that god is going to kill all persons whom he/she thinks is not doing his will.
my question is, how can god kill someone for not being "christian", or following the bible out of sheer ignorance?
There are so many contradictions in the Bible, and I feel that it is just a book of fairy tales. Think about it, Hallucinogenic drugs have been around since the beginning of time, and I am sure that some of the writers were probably doing some of the best opiates known to man, which if it were me, I could sure write some quite interesting passages myself......

Overall, I think people are good. Yes there are those who can be total Butt munches, but I think the majority rules with people doing what they can to live together in Humanity. There are many JW's that I encountered growing up who had double lives, all sweet and loving in front of the congregation, yet "Behind closed doors" were worse than a Lot of people that I have encountered in the "World". Humanity has it's pro's and also it's cons, but I think most of us "Worldly people" just want to try to do what's right, and treat others the same way that we would want to be treated.

I can definately see where there is a high concentration of mental illness in the Borganization. I cannot tell you of the many Sisters in the congregation who carried Valiums and Xanax's with them to the Kingdom Halls, and in field service. A fellow pioneer Sister, a reg pioneer as I was, Had a nervous breakdown, and was hospitalized because of the pressures of Making her hours. I can also see that by all of the images of destruction-the artwork in the literature showing how Armageddon will come about could cause many to have so much fear that it causes much anxiety. I know that I was, and at times still am, really anxious about what I was taught growing up in the Org. and still have dreams of Armageddon which aren't too pretty, and still can't believe that I have such dreams, after being away from the Org. for many years now. I try taking things with a grain of salt, knowing it was my upbringing, but still I find it playing havoc with my mind at times. Fortunately, I am able to rationalize, and overcome these feelings-will it ever end!!!???

I really do not think that I would have been part of the organization had I not been a child when my parents joined. The scare tactics and guilt that they use can really mess with one's mind. In some ways I am glad to have had the experience, as it has taught me humility, honesty, caring, and this has helped me along my journey in life-even though it is part of "THE WORLD", yes I am Worldly, Very Worldly at times!, but I think that all in all, if I could learn how to rid myself of all that negative energy and excess baggage from leaving the Borganization, and concentrating on the positive things that I learned to make me a better human bean, things actually just may work out....

i refused to preface the statement with the phrase "i believe".

As for my belief in "GOD" "Jehovah", I would have to say now that I have mixed feelings. At times I want to believe that there is no "GOD", but other times I sit back, and cool my jets, and start to think a little different about things pertaining to "A higher power", I think I am at a roller-coaster stage in my life after being burnt by the Organization. Some feelings justify feelings of Atheism, but then again-could be the years of guilt and programming provides the upswing of "how dare I not believe in such a wonderful and Loving God as "Jehovah", but then realize how unloving and unjust this higher power can be-back and forth-I think I need a Dramamine-or at least a Xanax! LOL
this week i mentioned how i never saw the movie "ghost" because it was considered "demonistic".
i also volunteered that that i could not watch "bewitched", although "i dream of jeannie" was a conscience matter......any thing you didn't watch because you were a witness?
Growing up, I was allowed to watch I dream of Jeannie, but not Bewitched-this is sooo funny to me as there are a lot of the same posts about these 2 shows! Was not allowed to go on a field trip in school to see "Fantasia", or several of the other "Demonistic" Disney movies-How dare Walt make such evil and vile twisted films-LOL!!! Of course no rated "R" movies were allowed-but whenever the original Dracula or Frankenstein movies would come on late at night, my Mother and I would stay up and watch them, a lot of times the end result being that I got to stay home from school-that was the best part!!!
