i stated on another thread that a "aux pioneer" cutie sister tried to flirt with me when counselling her -- there were other occasions also - my question -.

"have any of you on this board had people in responsible positions flirt with you -- or have those in responsible positions had sisters flirt with you?

Euphemisms for cursing among JWs

in an effort to show that they had put on a 'new' personality, many who joined the wtbts would adjust their speech patterns to avoid common expressions of cursing or profanity.

yet there would still arise times when they would become frustrated, angry or disgusted at someone or at a situation, and wish to express their feelings.

here are a couple of substitutes for cursing heard among jws ...... forget you.

Growing up in my household, My P.O. father, and my mother never used euphemisms. They were more than content to use the real words. F*ck You was a common occurence between my parents, with the usual B*tch, Bastard, and kiss my A*s thrown in for good measure, and those words were especially dramatic during the physically violent times as well....

As for myself growing up in the org. Phooey, and Poo, and shoot, were at the top of the list.

JW Aging Parents/ Rest Homes

for those of you with aging jw parents/friends, i would like to pose a question: .

if the time came when they would need to reside in a senior assisted living facility of some kind - would the jw belief regarding close association with "the world" keep them from moving in?

the wts does not provide any kind of jw home environment for the elderly/infirm and when folks have had their thinking controlled by the org and taught the dangers of "the world" for much of their lives, this can be an especially traumatic time.

I am absolutely sickened by what that P.O. said to you! It gets me how an organization that claims to be God's chosen people, can be so callous when it comes to one another's needs. They preach Love, too bad they don't practice it as they should....

I guess it would depend on the person. Some would be fine with it, as it would allow them "Fresh Territory" to be able to spread God's Word, and have Bible Studies. In addition, if in a home, does not mean that they can never leave, unless of course they were totally bedridden, and would still be able to have Brothers and Sisters from the Cong. Visit, and pick them up for meetings, etc. I have visited rest homes, and they can be quite depressing, but once again, it would be the person's outlook, and what they could make of the situation. JW's are surrounded by "Ungodly People" in everyday life, so I don't see how it would be very much different.

What Ramifications would there be if The WBTS went out.....

i as much as anyone would love to see them fall flat on their hypocritical behinds, but what would really be the outcome?

there are those who have spent their entire lives in the org.

and many of these are elderly, and basically have only the org.

Thanks for the input. I too would feel really bad for those who are elderly, and have lived their whole lives in the org. An interesting thing, If there were different splinter groups, they definately could no longer claim to be the one true religion. But then again, with the way they are able to twist things around, they could probably say it anyways, and get away with it.

Guards at Stadium Conventions during Song and Prayer

when did the wt start having guards come out during the song and prayer at stadium conventions?

i noticed this at a convention in san diego, right before the song begins, a bunch of "brothers" come out and stand at key positions facing the seats, and scan the audience!

they remain until after the prayer, and they do not bow their heads during the prayer, but keep scanning the audience.

i am going camping in the forest near the oregon coast.

Would love to go back on tour through New England, take in the sights, and visit old cemetaries in the middle of the night with a flashlight-Lot's of fun!!!
