For me, I plan to be part of this board for awhile. A lot of me wanting to stay, is the fact that friends are made here, and it is a good place to re-affirm that we are not alone. I treat it as a "Coffee Clutch" where we can gather around the watering hole to catch up, and chat in between times of dealing with everyday life. I think the best way to "Win over the enemy" is to show them that I have come to a point where they no longer have as great an affect on me, and am once again able to laugh, and have people in my life who truly care, and look out for each other's well being.

Yeah, what is it with the chilly weather? I kinda like it actually, nice for a change as it has been so hot and humid here.....ever notice how everyone complains when it's cold that they can't wait till it warms up, then as soon as it warms up, people complain that they can't wait till it cools off.....
freein, nothin wrong at all talking to yourself, I do it all the time!

Happy Father's Day
by talesin in.
i admit it, i wanted to be the first to wish all of you guys a happy father's day.. i've been thinking about those of you who are separated from their kids, and grandkids, all week.. to you guys, especially, talesin sends her love, and wants you all to know that i will be thinking of you tomorrow.
i feel your sorrow, and fervently hope the next year will bring happy changes to your family.. to those who have their families with them, i celebrate your dedication to truth and freedom, and the love you have shown your children by choosing a borg-free life.. to fathers!

You Might Wanna Share This Info With Your Psych Therapist.....
by Frannie Banannie inpart 1:

(while this article was originally written for psychotherapists working with ex-fundamentalists, it should be helpful for anyone who has been involved with a restrictive religious group.

Thanks for posting the info!
I could have used this several years ago when I sought out a therapist. I was turned down 2 times, and referred elsewhere, when I told them I had been one of JW's. One flat out told me that he didn't think he could do me any good, as it was such a complex situation. At least he was honest....but then again-rejection from a therapist, that takes the cake!

What's Cookin' Good Lookin'?
by patio34 inwhat is everyone cooking today for dinner?.
i just put in a turkey breast roast (it's 8:00 a.m.).
first, it's in a oven of 425 degrees to kill off all the surface bacteria, then after an hour, i'll slow roast it at 225 or 250 degrees for 5-6 hours.

LOL @ Valis and notperfectyet!
Tonight I will be trying a recipe From Dan-o with portabello mushrooms. Big caps lightly brushed with olive oil and garlic, and filled with cream cheese, and topped with seasoned bread crumbs. Will probably throw a couple chicken breasts on the grill too.

No more "Governing Body"?
by Butterflygal inin the april edition of ex-jw peter barnes newletter, "out of darkness", i found the following statement: "in recent years, the society has dropped the term "governing body", but in practice it is still operating.
" i was shocked to read this.
i had not heard anything about it.

Life Is Probably Out There, Scientists Think
by Satanus ina new satelite, nasa's spitzer, has been scanning the universe and found organic chemicals as far away as 420 light yrs away.
the number of organics identified stands at 130. some of them are glycine and even a form of sugar.
furthermore, they were found in accretion disks, disk shaped dust clouds, where planets are forming.

some are probably still paradise worlds
Good point. Depending on their attitude, it could well be that other beings have dicovered how to live in a paradisaical environment free from the violence and corruptiveness that we see here.
Beam me up, Scotty!!!

My Rather Large Extremeties Are Becoming A Problem.
by Englishman ini'm not excessively tall at just over 6 feet.
however, i must have been first in line when god was dishing out hands, feet and heads.
to date it hasn't been much of a problem except when i have to travel 25 miles to the nearest shoe shop to get a size 14 (uk).

I have found that a garden hose reel works well. That way I can wind it up when not in use......
