I never used to think of this and I think most JWs do not because of the mentality that whatever the org does is for the good of the individual JWs. In addition hardly anyone was DFed in that congo when I was there and it seemed like a remote possibility.

Did the DFing policy make you emotionally distant?
by Open mind infor those who spent many years in the jw religion, what effect did the knowledge that your friends or family could instantly be "poofed" out of existence by a judicial committee have on you?
did it cause you to withdraw emotionally?
looking back over the decades, ( i'm a 3rd gen jw in my forties, mentally out but physically in ) i can remember consciously thinking about whether a new friend was going to be around "for the long haul".

I am officially divorced
by Billzfan23 inyesterday was the day - that my marriage of over 10 1/2 years to my jw wife was dissolved....finally.... - i am in a terrific mood today!
my wife and i have joint physical and legal custody of the kids which is awesome!
she doesn't make them go to meetings or go out in service and she has to allow all extra carricular activities.

It's nice that you managed to minimise the creepy influence of the cult through the ex wife over the children, you did the best out of a bad situation.

I also believe that time is the best healer that will eventually erase all problems that you have. What about some social life outside the JWs that is really useful for expressing emotions for venting otherwise locked up energies can become disruptive.
Being part of this online community helps a lot but real life contact is even better. -

JW does not regret receiving her court-ordered transfusion
by Gopher ini love happy endings.
ms k. gave birth at an irish hospital last year, and lost an enormous amount of blood.
the hospital didn't know she was jw, and apparently she didn't have a "no blood" card with her.

"at one stage that she suggested he give her 'coke and tomatoes' as an alternative treatment."
What on earth does that mean? Coke is a kind of junk food. She is lucky that Ceasar took over and saved her life otherwise she would end up having a child that would grow up as an orphan. -

Why can't Witnesses Gamble? There's nothing in the bible about it!!!
by Witness 007 inif caught in any form of gambling you will be disfellowshiped!!!!!
the principles are "gambling is greedy and selfish, putting faith in the goddess of good luck.
" this is lame!

Gambling is OK if it can be kept under control but some people become compulsive gamblers and end up losing out in a major way, their families also suffer.
There should be a rule in society against heavy financially crippling gambling. I know people that died in poverty despite having enjoyed high a income throughout their working lives. -

For me it was food. A friend that cooks very well invited me and we had a delicious meal and cakes that she prepared. We ate together with her husband and some friends and good quality wine was also included.
That was a wonderful birthday present, not something that you can carry with you and keep around but very memorable. -

how was it for you.....
by Iron Rod ini have a question for everyone regarding your personal experience with the brainwashing techniques of the wt.
(its amazing that i can even say that now.
once was a time i would have bristled at the mere suggestion that the society brainwashes people.

It's a cult that's why those things happened to you, it makes for an inability to relate to God in an emotionally healthy way that takes into account the individuality and basic freedoms of a person. The cult needs to instil the fear of God in its members in order to better manipulate them for its own agenda and interests.
The powerfully negative God image projected by the cult can easily act as a devouring dragon like figure that can interfere with the normal emotional development of a person.
A religion based on fear is something very unhealthy for human psychology humans should relate to God and serve him out of love not compulsion. -

The Transsexual They Wouldn't Let Pee
by minimus inin a congregation some years ago, the elders had a major issue to deal with.
a transexxual woman became interested in studying the bible with the witnesses.
she was invited to go to the meetings.

The transexuals are causing confusion even to the dubs, given their Victorian mentality her or his presence as the case may be, must have freaked them out.
What would a tansexual have to do if s/he decides to become a witness especially if they already had the operation? -

Their entire business depends on lies and deception and their underlying principle is one of ruthless exploitation so we shouldn't expect them to tell the truth or have love in their hearts.

Why are phone calls so expensive in the USA with all the competition going on between telecom companies? Alternatively free calls can be made from PC to PC or from PC to a phone (Voip) with a small charge.
