It is pagan in origin no doubt about that but it makes no difference because it was christianised the church did not adopt it to bring in pagan influences but rather subjected those influences to its own ones.
Only a neurotic hair splitting mind would raise issues about the distant origins of something that today are of no consequence whatsoever. Nobody even knows today of saturn, the sun god and yule and what have you.

I drink wine and beer usually at the end of the day shortly before sleep. I am amazed how many different flavours can come out of the same variety of grapes, they vary from country to country and region to region even locality to locality.
One vineyard produces Cabernet Sauvignon that can sell for $30 a bottle and another just a few hunderd metres down the road one that can only sell for $5. -

Taking into account the millions of other members that were doing the same one can imagine the benefit for the WTS derived through this enormous unpaid workforce. -

They always have to be burdened with so many rules and the fear that they may cause someone to get stumbled there is always someone that might get stumbled so that others would have to curtail their freedoms. This is another mind control trick it is surely worrying that a fellow JW might be stumbled. The bottom line is: yes you can go but it's better if you don't.

Welcome brokenperfection, I suppose being an elder's child means having and exhibiting a superior status in the local congregation and in some congos the elders do have power struggles and seek to promote their own family members.

JW's on my block!!
by Wordly Andre init was about 5pm yesterday, i noticed 2 men in suits walking around my block, at first i thought they were only there to visit one house, but then they started going door to door, they were holding a magazine after the first house so then i knew, they were dubs, i grabbed my shot gun, holy water, and crucifix, and changed into my jehovah's witness protection program t-shirt.
too bad i had to leave home before they got around to my place, but i won tickets to disney's halloween treat, so i didn't get to confront them.
but what is up with door to door work so late?

it was a pet peeve of mine!
a few times when i had the last part in a service meeting, i'd say, rather sternly,"this originally was a 15 minute part but because we are running out of time, we will dispense with (whatever).".

I also agree that the life of the unborn child is also a human life just like any. It is amazing how an act of insanity can destroy a whole family physically or psychologically.
