The UK (imperial) gallon is not the same as the us gallon, it is in fact larger, 1 uk gallon = 1.2 US gallon. Even so petrol (gas) in the UK is very expensive due to high taxation, same with cigarettes.
In the Euro zone the high rate of that currency versus the US dollar cushions to a great extend the impact of high petroleum prices. Today 1 Euro = $1.57!

The JWs mainly preach to people with a Christian background. Good point, most of their converts come from such people whereas their success with Moslems, Hindus, Taoists etc is extremely limited. They have made little headway in non Christian countries. Of course it's the much demonised traditional Christian religions that kept up Christianity which gave the dubs most of their converts.

Will the logic and science of this world apply on Paradise Earth?
by HB ini feel a little stupid asking this question as i don't for one millisecond believe there is any possibility of a future paradise on earth, but i'm trying to work out how the people who do believe it visualise it and expect it to be.
i suppose it's pointless to expect believers to have rational answers about such an irrational concept, but i'm trying to understand their thinking.
(being a complete newcomer to all things jw, i am learning a lot of fascinating stuff from this website.

Biblically there is no such destiny as eternal life on paradise earth and all the faithful are heaven bound destined to acquire a far more powerful spiritual body as opposed to the fragile and weak human material body.
The JWs in a crude doctrinal error or intentional deception created the myth of paradise earth. Perhaps the glorified humans will be able to switch at will between spiritual and physical bodies but no one will be locked for ever in a physical body as the heretical JWs preach.

JW membership turnover - a real-life study
by besty inmuch has been commented here on how jw's rely on an ever-changing membership for keeping their 'the sky is falling, the world is ending' doctrine fresh.. recently it was posted that fully 2/3 of born-in jw's leave at some point, and i thought you might like to see how this works in practice.. so lets take sam and i and our extended families - we were both born and brought up jw's.
start with me.

They do have a large turn over number, the problems come home to roost as members vote with their feet versus their foolish policies, stern authoritarianism in the democratic western world of the 21st century, never ending deception and manipulation, the inability to offer real solutions rather than constantly criticise, the excessive demands and lack of real support, the very harsh excommunication policy, the hopelessly muddled blood policy.
All in all it's an org that demands a great deal and offers basically nothing of value in return. -

different congregations
by BR25 ini know that most of you dont believe in the jw faith anymore, but do any of you think certain things might have went different for you if in a different congregation?
ive mentioned before that i believe in what the jws believe.
im asking this question though because ive been to a couple of congregations in different areas and ive found some to be more heartworming, more open, and happier than others.

I believe within any country the dubs will have a culture that is similar to the one prevailing in that country. This of course applies to countries like England but not necessarily to the USA which is very large and multicultural in which case we can talk about local cultures I suppose.
Of the two I have been two they were both about the same except that the first one was far more materialistic due to the fact that its members were more wealthy and money minded. For them money and social status were just as important as for any "worldly" person.
Both were rather cold and inhospitable with few exceptions.

Its leaders pretend to be your friends whereas they are your worst enemies. They are also very adept at twisting the meaning of words and biblical verses in order to suit their agenda. As ever they find a some naive people in society that they can ruthlessly deceive and victimise.

Once more we see that the fear of religion and God got into and enslaved someone. The JWs are not the truth and never have been and can not be compared to the early church which not only believed but also practiced what it believed. It was a religion and not a business pretending to be a religion. Therefore this verse can not be applicable to them.

This is all down to some brutal sadistic staff I understand, in the European Union there are strict laws governing the humane elevation and killing of animals. So I hope that they do not suffer as much as in this American video.
