Given the amount of time and effort they put into it what they get back is not financially worthwhile in as much as they could find another occupation that rewards much better for less input.

the TRUTH about DISFELLOWSHIPPING and SHUNNING from JESUS view
by Terry inloving and forgiving are a huge component of jesus' message to his disciples.. in answer to the question as to how many times forgiveness should be offered to an offender, jesus gave the reply, "seventy (times) seven.
" (variously interpreted as either 77 times or a multiple of 70 times 7).. an example is given of a man who owed a considerable sum of money whose debt was forgiven.
this man failed to forgive a much smaller debt owed to him.

Obviously DFing as practised by the JWs is not a christian way of doing things, christianity is all about forgiveness and tolerence. They could in some cases of serious violations withdraw privileges from members but total shunning is just diabolical.
And of course getting DFed for disagreeing with the leadership or for silly things like wearing a cross or celebrating birthdays is totally absurd. -

Do good works by JWs count for anything?
by greendawn inwe all know that the wts like so many other cults is an exploitative organisation that works with a great depth of deception that's not easy for many to grasp.
but will the works done by jws for this religion count in their favour if they were done in good faith?
at least the ones that didn't directly harm anyone?

For many it would be good to know that they will receive some credit after leaving the org of course not from the org that will ostracise them but from god or society.
What about the already ex JWs and all the work they did supposedly for god? What do they think?
I think they count as long as one leaves the org upon realising that it is degenerate in nature. Or at least cease to give it any active support. -

It's strange how mind conditioning can make people believe in the most ridiculous ideas and policies, in this case refusing blood voluntarily donated to save a life. It's not as if the donor died or was harmed in any way. There is no parallel with the death of an animal and its blood.

Witness ENJOY Being "Persecuted"!
by minimus inthat's the conclusion i've reached.
.
i see persons who love being martyrs by going to the kingdom hall and not being able to literally breathe because they are allergic to perfumes and colognes, and they cough, their eyes water and they actually cry that no one cares about their plight-----but they still go and are "faithful" meeting attenders yet bitch and moan to anyone that will hear them.. then you get those that are handicapped and it's a huge deal to get into a car to go out in service and they cry that nobody really cares about them.. when an elder doesn't pick a person to comment, that martyr will dutifully go to the meetings, say the conductor doesn't like him/her and pray to jehovah for the strength to endure.. i swar, jws love feeling persecuted!.

They do have a persecution complex that's why I am always careful not to say things they will regard as persecution even though they persecute mercilessly ex JWs with their shunning policy at least in some countries.

Mostly in their late teens and early twenties people that grew up among the dubs, I suppose they realised that this org has nothing good to offer having lived it intimately for years, so they get out so as not to waste more years to no avail.
The WTS is obviously a badly outdated concept that failed to develop with the times, it's like a food product in the shops that carries the same label and ingredients for over 100 years long after people's tastes changed.
Fortunately they don't have the ability to change with the times. -

Nothing said last night
by stillajwexelder inin our hall last night ,nothing was said about a big announcement after the wt study sunday

There have been a lot of such instances recently about great announcements coming up with sensational content, the FDS will announce an end to the preaching work, or that armagerddon is about to be unleashed and the like.
These are just control techniques to motivate the dispirited R&F, the WTS will never change its fundamental guiding principles and nature. -

When You Were a JWD Newbie - Were You Shown a Warm Welcome ?
by flipper inone thing we all have in common - everybody who started posting on jwd , were all " new " posters in the beginning on this board.
so take yourself back in time for a minute - how were you received here ?
did people welcome you warmly ?
-
greendawn
I wasn't welcomed or put off when I first posted in 2004 on the forum, at the time there was apparently no custom for welcoming newbies nor of viewing them with suspicion as seems to have been the case in the early years. My entry here went basically unperceived but I got to know some of the people here through the chat facility that existed back then.

YES AGAIN - SO MANY NEWBIES!!
by still_in74 inokay all, i know we talked about this a couple months ago but i am certain that in just the last few days jwd has seen an enormous surge in newbies!.
should we be concerned or excited or what??.
are we in a "sifting work" again?
-
greendawn
It's nice to have many newbies but even so they are only a small percentage of those leaving the cult in the English speaking countries and as far as I know this is the main english language ex JW forum. No doubt many more are benefitting by lurking but never posting.

The hidden Watchtower writers.
by edmond dantes inthe watchtower smoke and mirrors dept.
are very fond of saying that appostates who post on the internet are like satan in eden hiding their identity just like the devil who used the serpent.. this begs the question why do the awake and watchtower writers need to hide behind the printing presses of the evil tower, what are they ashamed of or more to the point what is the govening body frightened of ?.
maybe the book club and rip off society are guilty of identity theft in not declaring the names of their writers..

Another reason is to keep up the pretenses that the spiritual food is being prepared by the FDS whereas most of their writings are being done by the non anointed, not that I believe in this separation but it shows their hypocrisy. None of the anointed non GB members can write anything but the non anointed friends of the GB can do just that.
