When we make this kind of decision there will be losses and gains but obviously in the long run the gains will be greater that's why the decision was made in the first place.
They are brain-washed to think that they shun you for your own good. I am sure you can take this in your stride.

Listen to my favourite music, rent and watch a film or two after checking things out on the imdb to make sure I don't get out any trash, visit/invite friends to socialise. In the summer go swimming.

but my question is how are things conducted in these areas?
the wts could be baptising people left and right just to show the number of jws worldwide is increasing.

Yes the Moslems are hard for the JWs even in the West perhaps they fear becoming outcasts in their original countries, and they don't easily mix and integrate.
Certain fanatical elements do talk from time to time about organising and sending death squads in the West to execute Moslem converts to Christianity. Being people of medieval ruthlessness and brutality they can be intimidating to western Moslems. -

Why did you chose to join a cult?
by Gill inmany of us here were born into the jw cult and so had no real choice in life until we were much older.. however, those of you who actually chose to join the cult and be a jw, can you explain 'why' you wanted to believe 'the troof' that they claimed to have.
didn't it appear too good to be true?.
why would you want to put those kinds of restraints on your life and your mind?

For me it was the double attraction of an apparently spiritual brotherhood and the opportunity to belong somewhere. The lures of a soon to be paradise and eternal life somehow always seemed to me as unreal and too good to be true. Of course I failed to realise they were a sect until a year after joining, and then I turned inactive and faded away.

Spook are you sure the JWs appeal mainly to moderate protestants? They've made a lot of converts from catholics as in Latin America and in Europe. From the orthodox as well. Perhaps even most JWS are not ex protestants.
As for most Moslem states as Johnnie also says they would be readily executed upon trying to convert any moslems, and also the converts if they don't return to islam in three days maximum from their arrest. -

JWs betraying you to the elders.
by greendawn ini was once betrayed by an unknown person to the elders for buying soft porn magazines in a shop.
i never managed to figure out who it was since there were many people in the shop (news agency) at the time and i never noticed a jw from the local congo or one from other congos in the area that i knew.
to this day it's a mystery to me who saw me there and went to tell the elders.

Does God speak directly to GB today?
by Bambie init's been 15 years since i was df'd, but i seem to recall as a jw that the belief was that the only human after adam that jehovah spoke directly to was jesus.. my question has to do with what the org.
teaches regarding modern day communication with jehovah.
it was my understand when i was a jw, that the gb does not say that jehovah speaks directly to them.

In fact the invisible presence nonsense was first applied in the 1878 by Russell and the Adventists to justify their then prophetic failure on the second coming, and 1914 (1915 originally)was to be the complementary visible coming. When that also failed they brought forward the start of the invisible presence to 1914 from 1878. Opportunistic charlatans!
